Whatever drama surrounded this team was 100% fan driven. Players weren't fighting on the court or talking in the media. No legal or academic troubles.

Our offense was terrible all year, so dependent on isolation and great individual performances. Honestly this is one of the worst passing teams I've ever seen. Over and over again we looked like had never seen a double team before when entering to the post. Just weird that this team had so much talent but couldn't do some basic things.
I don't think there's a single thing they could say that would make you happy.
Also, it's literally Blum's job to raise money.
Totally agree. Nojus should have been able to beat out Kelderman and play significant minutes. Not a good sign, sometimes I wonder if TJ is too stubborn with what he expects of players and that his program philosophy does not effectively develop younger players. We've had great recruiting classes the past few years but the only homegrown players TJ has playing this year are Milan and Lipsey. The dependence on transfers can't be the only way to develop the roster.
Pessimists die earlier, but we've evolved too far for them to not die early enough.

I think TJ is nailing it perfectly. If you can recruit one, at best two, high school players a year that end up being contributors at some point in their career you are doing well, and you fill in immediate needs with transfers. Welcome to the new era of college basketball.
We really needed BRE this year. Our interior players are slow and bad defensively.
Big Rob is an excellent example of a transfer that is completely attainable for ISU and can be developed into a solid difference maker.
IDK by the eye test we finished right on par with expectations, no better no worse. The rankings never matched the team we saw. The 3 line was open against us all year, and so many games came down to whether those open 3s were hit or bricked by our opponents.
The two guys they've been playing stunk so not sure I'd want more.

Disappointing finish, especially considering how this season started. But in the grand scheme of Iowa State basketball, it’s well above average. TJ has increased expectations to to the point a round of 32 exit is disappointing - which is a very good thing.
Still sucks the way it ended. Hopefully we learn from it, make changes, and can be more consistent in the big, important games next year.

That is just Tamin being Tamin. You cannot play as hard as he does and throw your body around with out caution and think he is going to stay healthy. What this team needed was for Nojus to step up; however, that never happened. Iowa State needed Nojus as an insurance policy for injuries.
Hopefully we can get Jefferson some help anticipating/recognizing the double team.
Im remembering the Gilbert before he was originally injured, which happened in the first conference game.
He couldn’t move well from that point on. He couldn’t generate turnovers and get out in transition like he was used to. He lost a lot of explosiveness.
Teams figured out how to deal with hobbled Gilbert, and he got frustrated. He only became part of the problem when he originally injured the groin. Unfortunately that’s been most of the season.
I have been thinking the same way. ISU got three baskets in total against Ole Miss from the last three recruiting classes.
