Let’s look at offensive football records:

Most rushing yards in a single game: ISU’s Troy Davis had 378 against Missouri in 1996. Oregon: Kenjon Barner 321 vs USC in 2012.

Rushing yards in a season: ISU’s Troy Davis 2,185 in 1996. Oregon: Royce Freeman had 1,836 yards in 2015.

Rushing TD’s in a game: The record for both teams is 5, but we had a QB accomplish the feat, which is honestly more impressive.

Most receptions in a career: ISU’s Allen Lazard had 241. Oregon has two players tied for their record with 178.

Most receptions in a season: ISU’s Tracy Henderson had 81 in 1983. Oregon’s Samie Parker had 77 in 2003.

Career receiving yards: Allen Lazard had 3,360. Oregon’s Samie Parker had 2,761.

Most receiving yards in a season: ISU’s Hakeem Butler had 1,318 yards in 2018. Oregon’s Dillon Mitchell had 1,184 in 2018.

Career receiving TDs: ISU’s Todd Blythe had 31. Oregon has 4 players tied with 24.

We are on the home stretch, at least for this years college football. Let's hope both teams stay healthy for this game (and afterwards of course). The amount of EXTRA sacrifice, staying in the bubble, is almost over. It would be a shame for either team to lose some players now due to Covid.

Happy holidays to you too. Certainly believe we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sadly, I do think January will be very bad. My hope if for a normal summer. I think spring will be a transition. Say safe fellow clones. Must hunker down for a few more months.

I'm glad you included 'biased" research. After a quick look at wikipedia they list the top 25 programs in track and field history. Oregon 7 National Championship team titles and 60 Individual National Championships. Didn't see ISU on the list.

If ISU can get a couple guys health on the OL, I like ISU's chances. Purdy has to play within himself. and take what is there. Not getting behind early would be a good thing to make life easier for him.

This is where the problem lies. Our defense is so vanilla at the beginning of the game. Where we play our typical 3 man front and don’t send anyone else. We fall behind and then we get our sense of urgency and start sending extra bodies.

Ooh I love stats. I can’t compete with the track ones, not really a thing Oregon is known for, but I think they are trying to get a track program going, they just rebuilt the track stadium with this modest little thing: https://www.srgpartnership.com/work/hayward-field

I had some other awesome stats pulled up, but I think we all know that at the end of the day the only that matters is what is on the scoreboard.

And our new scoreboard video screen is huuuuuge. The biggest one in college football, 12,276 square feet of the finest pixels sneaker money can buy. To put that in perspective: it’s about the same surface area as the two biggest ones in the Big-12, Texas’ and Oklahoma’s.
Is it overcompensating for something? Yes. Our yellow uniforms and other scoreboard did not blind as many people as originally hoped.

I didn’t mean to subvert this with facilities trash talk. Unfortunately, none of the architectural athletic marvels on campus can play defensive tackle to help slow down Breece Hall. We do have a nose tackle that used to be the size of a large house, but he’s regressed as a fourth year starter after losing weight and is now only the size of a modest cottage. A particularly slow cottage at that.

Merry Christmas to all of you. As a present I bring you Head Coach Mario Cristobal’s take on Iowa State:

"It’s the most physical team we’ve seen on tape — and I’m talking about since I've been here at Oregon."

For Cristobal this is the highest praise in football. He is basically asking for Iowa State’s band in marriage with that compliment. Over the last few years we’ve seen Michigan State, Auburn, Wisconsin, Utah, Stanford and some other teams that pride themselves on physicality.

If you’re going for serious and you’re going to leave out the women’s championships and the 11 indoor championships since 2009? What kind of trash talk is this? You damn well know we have to bring the big guns once they get to men’s gymnastics, you can bet they won’t leave out the monkey bars or the thing with the rings.

Nah, at Rose Bowl media day Cristobal said Wisconsin is so soft that when he was watching their tape he thought that he was playing with a basket full of kittens. He then went up to Wisconsin’s coach, grabbed his hand and made him slap himself while saying “why you hitting yourself?” In a mocking voice.

Yeah, he said something similar because he talks in coach speak but convinces me it’s sincere. Mario might mean it though, it was the common thread among the player interviews. Comparisons to Wisconsin and talking about physicality.

Dorlus said the Ducks watched some Iowa State film earlier this morning, and he compared them to the style Oregon faced in the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin: "It's going to be a good game, very physical up front. It’s a good test we’ve got."
 
Most Oregon fans seem cool, but I had to chuckle at a couple comments on their 247 board. One referred to Purdy as a Mountain West QB, and another says Breece is overrated.
