Just listened to the Autzen Audibles podcast (oregon). Dont waste your time with it. Pretty disrespectful to be honest. To summarize, they say since Oregon has had higher recruiting rankings and more stars, they should win easily. They made excuses for pac 12 teams playing poorly because of covid, but didnt give ISU the same credit in our Louisiana game. They believe that the Oregon defense is superior to anything ISU has seen so far this year. Because, the big 12 doesnt play defense, yet there are 3 B12 defenses ranked higher than the pac12s top rated defense.

Meh, homer podcasts gon homer. I will say I think Oklahoma's defense is legit and I'm glad we faced them. Not buying that Oregon's D is better than OU based on the couple Duck's games I've watched...their DE is a stud though.

That DE scares me. But he’s only one man and it’s not like Brock doesn’t have experience making plays on the run.

Duck is the common name for numerous species in the waterfowl family Anatidae which also includes swans and geese. Ducks are divided among several subfamilies in the family Anatidae; they do not represent a monophyletic group (the group of all descendants of a single common ancestral species) but a form taxon, since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, mostly smaller than the swans and geese, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water.

Ducks are sometimes confused with several types of unrelated water birds with similar forms, such as loons or divers, grebes, gallinules and coots.

Oh wait, is this not what you meant?

The defense started to put it together in the last two games. There’s more to worry about than Thibodeaux. Noah Sewell is a unicorn at ILB, Dorlus is very quick twitch on the inside at DL, and the corners are great. It’s a really young defense that is gaining in confidence.

My apologies, brevity is not my strong suit. I’ve been watching Iowa State games to get a preview. I might have more questions, but what happened against Louisiana Lafayette? The punt and kick returns I understand, those happen - but what was Purdy doing? Because a completion rate that low does not bode well.

That game was brutal. Our teams have always started the season slow and in the past have peaked toward the end of October. The first couple of games, we tend to run very vanilla and Purdy has not used his legs much at all the last couple years at the beginning of the season. We lost our two receivers with the most receptions last season and as a previous poster mentioned, Charlie Kolar was out for the first game recovering from hernia surgery.

So basically we had a new receiving core and it was later reported, that there were Covid issues leading up to the game so many players were not able to get in the reps before that first game. Louisiana came out with tight man to man coverage, our receivers were not able to get much separation and we didn't have any of our go-to targets from last year to fall back on. There were some early drops and it led to an ugly game. Louisiana gets credit too. They are a solid team and executed their game plan very well.

Our team has been a resilient bunch this year but we have been our worst enemy with special teams and inopportune penalties in the red zone. Our teams under campbell have been very good when it comes to penalties. But there have been several times when we get in the red zone and have first and goal, we end up getting false starts. Earlier in the season we had a lot of penalties for not having enough or too many guys on the line of scrimmage. Most of these have come when our offense is moving the ball and killed momentum. And special teams have given up huge plays (kick/punt returns, shanked punts, missed fg, botched punts) at times where we had just gotten the momentum. It has totally deflated us at times. Since that first game, we have fortunately done a much better job of recovering through adversity.

If you want to watch a game where ISU plays a complete game against a solid opponent, watch the West Virginia game. West Virginia statistically has a top 5 defense and at the time was around top 25 offense. We played a complete game and it was total annihilation where we did not let up and kept the momentum throughout. The OU/TX games were probably C+/B- games but we were able to find ways to keep the games close and have a chance to win at the end.

Hopefully we will have a well officiated game where there aren't any major injuries on both sides and may the best team win! Thanks for all of the ducks posts. It has been great reading your perspectives.

So, Duck fans... Larry Scott.

Discuss.
Its terrible that we went from Tom Hansen to a guy who mostly cares about Tennis in Larry Scott who has, by all objective measures, been an abject failure. He is more concerned about his bonuses then he is on anything else and we desperately want him gone before he tanks the conference any further. I honestly have full faith that I could do a better job than he has.

Mario Cristobal the recruiter is one of the best.
Mario Cristobal the Head Coach is still pretty average.

Our AD Rob Mullens however is one of the best and due to the sheer money that we lose relative to other leagues, I'm worried that a school will end up poaching him away as we have one of the better functioning Athletic Departments in the nation and replacing him may not be so easy when he's hired so many good coaches across the board for us.

Famous west coast smugness Portland is famous for.

Lousiana is ranked 6 spots higher in the polls than they are. Lousiana is ranked higher than Texas and Okie lite. Which are also ranked higher than Duck nation. But, recruiting rankings.

5 star cultural vs. 5 star players.

Let's go pluck some ducks in the desert.

Does anyone really care about these types of statistics anymore? They seem even more irrelevant in this truncated abortion of a season where there is absolutely no overlap in common opponents.

Our defense sucked for 4 games and then looked better against the final 2. That being said, the final two offenses were flawed.

I think most Oregon fans see potential greatness in the defense. It’s just a matter of when the proverbial light bulb turns on.

I think the Vegas line is accurate. Iowa State should be a slight favorite.

Dungeness crab is certainly the signature food of Oregon IMHO. It doesn't have the cachet of king crab, but I think it's better. It's not as rich and sweet as king. Berries are also big, along with hazelnuts, formerly known as filberts. And as mentioned, Oregon Pinot Noir is generally spectacular. If you're a beer drinker you'd better like a good IPA, because it's rampant in Oregon, though not my favorite. I think Rogue Dead Guy Ale is the best beer brewed in the state.

As for Larry Scott, he has fleeced the Pac-12. I don't get what the presidents see in him. The Pac-12 network is a total joke.

Does Larry have dirty pics of the presidents or something? I don’t get how a guy that bad stays in power

Any good spots to watch duck replays? youtube normally has full Iowa State games, but a quick search for the game against USC only resulted in highlights.

This is a German Maibock, used to be called Maierbocker for the Master Brewer John Maier. It tastes even better when it's been in a Dead Guy Ale Whisky barrel and they call it Double Dead Guy. If yall do like IPA, their 7-hop IPA is their best. It's too bad that Brett Joyce is the opposite of his dad and is trying to turn that place into Sam Adams. The founder of the company was an Oregon Duck who used to be an attorney for Nike but now his kid runs it from Portland (instead of Newport on the coast).

Also, might just be where people live but give me a Steelhead over a Rainbow trout any day of the week. We also have a lot of nice Elk and Deer and unlike say Nebraska, there are plenty of tags to go around. Usually if you plan a hunting trip most people go out to Eastern Oregon as its more sparse. (Western Oregon/I-5 corridor is going to look like the East Coast with continuous city sprawl in 30 years).

IMHO, if you're an Oregon fan, the games to watch are the 2 Oklahoma games, the Texas game and the Oklahoma State game. The rest of the season you can skip over. You'll find that our defense is almost always very good and at times our offense can be great but other times sputter. Special teams is the phase of the game where every team we played had an advantage (with Kene's kick returns almost averaging it out).

I think this game could very well be low scoring...

I’m not particularly worried about how good Oregon’s corners are. We have one good wideout and a couple of serviceable ones. I’m more interested in how their linebackers and safeties match up on our tight ends and Breece. I know their safeties are good, but they’re also aggressive so it will be interesting to see if that pays off for them or if our size advantage with our tight ends will wreck havoc for them.

This is a good twitter feed to keep up with the analysis side of things. I think most of the videos that get put on youtube have weird title names to keep from being spotted and taken down.
