I'm too old to know the current bar scene in Ames, BUT the one that has endured for the ages is the Tip Top Lounge, total dive bar that is extremely popular on Sat am's before football games. Beer and Chili at the Tip Top is an ISU tradition if you are into FB and drinking everyone from college kids to 60+ yr olds in there on game day.

It's been great having you guys stop in CF and visit, kind of makes me wish FB wasn't scheduled out a decade+ I think you folks would be fun to tailgate with in either Ames or Eugene.
Tip Top is still going!

Does Ames have any such establishments with such stellar reputations? Entertaining stories of misbehavior? Trying to learn all I can before I switch to football trash talk tomorrow and y’all get even more tired of me.
I'm sure others will have stories from places like Cy's Roost, Sips, Paddy's. The only one that comes to mind right now is how Jared Homan (our 6'10 starting Center on the basketball team) tried to hide from the cops on Welch Ave (where all the campus bars are) by hiding under a car. I can't even remember why he was hiding, but shockingly the cops were able to find him.

CYs was always good to sit at the bar. They would routinely fill pitchers and they would either get paid or the waiter wouldn’t pick them up so you could get them for free. One VEISHEA me and a buddy bought one and hit three free ones that way.

Oh, how could I forget David Irving at Veishea? Veishea was an annual spring festival for the university that was just an excuse to party and get hammered all week. Riots broke out a few times at this, and this was the riot that got Veishea cancelled. Here is David Irving (former Cowboys and current Raiders DE) carrying a stop sign. He was dismissed.

I never went there because I was told that it was a gay bar, or at least that was the rumor when I went to school in the early 90s.
Just a regular ole hangout, straight and gay I suppose. Nobody asked me to declare one way or the other when I went there. It was just a cool, chill place to hang out.

Puddles ("unofficial" name of Duck mascot according to RatherBeYachting) vs Benny Beaver (Oregon State mascot) on a warm-up shirt at a rivalry game. Rock 'em Sock 'em robots with Puddles throwing the punch?

Thanks, I got the Puddles part, but didn't understand the Benny part. Why no beaver tail? My quick drunk Google search for Benny mascot resulted in Benny the Bull (Chicago Bulls), so I gave up.
