He certainly let them know he was not going to put up with the lousy calls we've been getting week after week. The no call on grounding, and the pass interference calls both went our way. I believe we have a coach who has sent a message that he will stand up for his team.

Well, if I knew I had Chizik putting a horse's head in my bedsheets, I'd make calls that went his way too.
I think that it was a combination of Chizik and the crowd. That was the loudest and most sustained booing that I have ever heard at a stadium, IT WAS LOUD! Chizik going crazy obviously fired the crowd up to do what they did.
I believe that that incident influenced two calls. The incomplete pass on the next play by Meyer and the PI call on the next drive.

Um, didn't Meyer throw the ball at Robinson's feet??? I thought the ball was clearly closer to an ISU receiver today than it was last week when Freeman was being sacked.
I agree with you, but those calls have been going against us in the past. I thought Freeman clearly grounded the ball and so did the official until he picked up the flag.
Robinson was a ways off on that "pass". That was definitely intentional grounding by Meyer; the refs just blew it and didn't call it. We were lucky. But yes, it was a hell of a lot closer to our receiver than it was to theirs last week.
As for Chizik- as I keep saying, I am SO happy to finally have a coach that won't just roll over and accept whatever the refs say if he doesn't think it's right. He makes himself heard and understood; politely if possible, but he's obviously not afraid to turn up the volume. The crowd agrees. When he's going after a ref on a bad call and people start cheering or chanting his name, you can tell that it's not just because they like seeing him get mad; it's because they like having a coach that will fight for us and want him to know that he has their support. It's really encouraging to see! Last year, if we were on 4th and 1 on a good drive, you sure didn't find the fans chanting "Go! Go! Go!". This year, the fans are showing a lot of goodwill and positive attitudes, and I'm loving it!

I remember those games and agree it was loud, but for one single moment in a game, the crowd seemed to hone in on the one play today. No matter what, it was great!
And at the end of the game, I have don't think I have ever heard a stadium get so quiet. We went from being loud as hell, to being able to hear a pin drop just so we could hear what the offial was gonna say. What a hell of way to cap of the year and what a way to send of the seniors.
I could see the look on the referee's faces from my seats... It sure looked like they knew they screwed up... just too late to do anything about it. In the end, we should thank them though. I'm not sure if it was seeing the coach go after the refs (you see that in basketball a lot... where that sparks a team), or a half "time" talk that did it, but from that moment on, the game was 100% different.
Oh, one cool thing... did anyone else notice that while Chizik was chewing out the referee, Meyer walked towards him and pumped his fist at coach... sort of like "thanks coach.. go get 'em?" That said a lot. It showed how much players loved that moment.

The last time I saw an ISU coach that pissed off about officiating was at the Palace in Auburn hills when Eustachy went ballistic and got thrown out. Of course, in that game I was sitting in a midst of green Michigan State fans and being mocked. Wish I could have been in Ames for this game, (though I'm glad I found the game on channel 453 of cable out here!)
From my view, Meyer's pass was within 3-5 feet of Robinson's feet. It was a great play by Meyer to not take a negative play.
