What’s the deal with him? 197lb blue chip recruit coming out last year..in the portal and transferring from MN..said he is very interested in ISU but our staff hasn’t contacted him.

This staff can’t land a recruit who is begging to come? Is there an issue here?Shapiro looks completely overmatched at 197. I think we should be looking.
Unless he did something really awful at UM, it’s a mistake IMO not to be recruiting him. Kid is a stud and could be very good at 197 for us.
Winston is from the Kansas City area (3 hours from Ames) and is Interested in ISU. No clue if the staff are going to try for him but I sure as hell would be trying to get some young talent in the room. We are going to be hurting after next year when the group of

If there was there was interest, I have to believe we are making phone calls. But I also know that Dresser has no time for kids with huge attitude problems. Idk if that’s the issue here but if we don’t go hard after him I have to believe that plays a role.
At this point I'm hoping the staff will at least take a chance on Winston and bring him in for the year. 197 is looking bleak right now and he could be an immediate upgrade at semester break. I think he is worth the risk
I think the staff is always looking to up grade talent. But unless you know the details of why he is leaving Minnesota and how much money he wants, it is tough to judge why the staff isn't pursuing him or at what degree they are.
Yes I see Metcalf started following him on twitter (actually, it was quite awhile ago, I think the day he entered the transfer portal).
I am trusting that the staff is bring in the right type of guys and if they do not think he fits, I am okay with that.
I think Winston has talent, but something else must be going on. Maybe it is not a big deal and he figures it out or maybe it is. No idea
