I need to find a hub cap for a car and Carney's here in Ames did not have the one I need. Does anyone know a good place or two to try down around Des Moines? I looked around online and it's just really tough to figure which ones are larger and may have more parts, thanks.

I had to get a mirror for my forester a few years back - got it from Sam's Riverside Salvage out on Vandalia not too far from the fairgrounds. That whole stretch is really nothing but yards.

I'm not sure if this is the site http://www.samsriverside.com/

But when I was looking, I found a site that I believe had numerous yards with an inventory - sort of a search by part and a listing of locations and prices. Sorry I don't have a link for it.

But they were the cheapest of all the places local and regional that had the mirror.

Edit:

I think this may have been it. http://www.samsriverside.com/parts.php

I went to Wrench and Go a few years ago. They didn't have anything that was newer than me. And they made me pay just to walk into their mud-hole :twitcy:

I've bought items from Carney's before that they didn't have in stock. They can look up the part for you from their little network of salvage yards and have it shipped to their location. That might be worth a try if you don't want to go on a wild goose chase around Des Moines.

There's no reason to figure out where all the salvage yard are. Just go to car-part.com and you'll figure out what places have the part you need.

Thanks everyone, can't believe this, I thought for sure someone would have at least said something about ripping one off another car in town. People are losing their edge on this Friday.
