DEPTH CHART IS OUT!

No, nonsensical is you saying that’s my argument. Matter of fact, you thinking that is just plain buck stupid.

My argument is that it’s far better to have three or even four stud receivers, rather than being limited to two guys.

*Edited for a semblance of politeness.

I mean, seriously. I’d think that my posts about how good Sowell, Townsend, Overby and Eskildsen could be might have been a clue? A tiny little one? Hello?

To be clear, Higgins got of to a slow start in his first season here in ‘23–and still had 983 yards.

That’s not expecting too much from our new guys.

Please stop underestimating our players.

Ok. Where do I start? I will ignore the lame insults and the weird strawman arguments and just stick to the basics.

We were not limited to two guys last year. That’s total nonsense. We lined up with the same number of WRs (and TEs) as we will this year. In fact, two of the four guys you say are the studs that are the equivalent of NFL 2nd and 3rd round draft picks were in our WR corps last year.

Your whole argument is based on this fundamentally flawed idea that we only had two guys last year, but somehow that same group of guys (minus Noel and Higgins, plus the two transfers) will equal 4 top end WRs at that level. Who will all end up with equal usage.

A - It’s a ridiculous fantasy that these guys are 4 NFL guys equal to Sr year of Higgins and Noel.

B - It’s always better to have elite players who can dominate than a bunch of guys with average level production. And in football, your elite guys will always have top level production. If ISU has a 2nd round draft pick talent… well he will damn sure not have 500 yards equal to all his teammates.

C - I realize the whole “our WR corps will be better without Noel and Higgins because we’ll have more depth” argument is a fan defense mechanism, but it’s entirely unnecessary. Our offense can without a doubt be better this year for many reasons. Our team can be better for many reasons (especially improved front 7 on defense).

No need for you to get riled up like this because somebody who knows football pointed out the obvious to you - you always take elite skill player talent over average production from four guys. Every single time. Every coach will tell you the same.

I don’t recall saying anything about four 500 yard receivers.

I think instead of 1,250, 1,250 (two studs, it would be better to have 1,000, 1,000, 840, 500.

Because the third (and fourth) guy open things up for the first two.
I replied to a post asking if you would rather have two stud WRs or four guys with 500 yards. I said you take the two stud skill guys every time. You said I was wrong, so obviously you argue that is preferred not to have the two stud WRs.

Your last paragraph in this post speaks volumes. It’s the elite offensive skill players that draw the attention of the defense and open things up. It’s not the third or fourth WR option who open things up - you have it all backwards. You simply don’t know football. That’s fine, but given that lack of football knowledge, you should take a step back and lay off the insults and arrogance.
