DEPTH CHART IS OUT!

I respectfully disagree.
We paid Sowell and Townsend to be Cyclones. Having an "OR" and being listed second is a HUGE deal.

I think Overby and Eskildsen are just that good.

Nothing wrong with having depth at the WR position. And spring practice/fall camp can't match actual game action. So I see the "or" as the coaching staff starting guys who are experienced in the ISU system.

I also feel Rocco is a sound enough QB that our passing game will be fine without having Hutchinson, Higgins or Noel talent-level players. And it doesn't hurt to have our TE or RB rooms.

Sama has more potential than Hansen, but he can't figure out how to read the blocks. If he does, he can overtake the top spot.
You're right but idk how realistic this is. He was a DB/WR recruit until very late in his senior season, a couple big games late kind of switched things. He doesn't seem to have natural RB skills/instincts, he wants to outrun everyone to edge like did in high school. He's really only been a RB for 3/4 years. It'll be interesting to see if the light switches on for him.

ISU has this talent. Their names are Dominic Overby and Brett Eskildsen.

Take a look around the league. 1,000 yards receiving isn't some insane number. Just because Iowa State history is historically bad from a WR standpoint doesn't make this a huge number.

The following teams didn't have a 1,000 yard receiver last season:
#2 Notre Dame
#3 Oregon
#4 Penn St
#6 Georgia
#8 Boise St
#9 Tennessee
#10 Indiana
#12 SMU
#13 BYU
#14 Clemson
#16 Illinois
#17 Alabama
#19 South Carolina
#21 Army
#22 Missouri
#24 Memphis

The fact that no one is the DOG in this room is concerning. My initial statement was this was similar to the Packers WR room. Plenty of guys who can contribute, but not a single massive game changer go to guy. The fact that we lost 2 go to guys when the going gets tough does not bode well. Hoping Brahmer has a huge year and can be that guy, because it looks like the WR room will not have that guy.
How about we let them play a game before we declare there's no DOG?

We've got no time for logic and reasonable takes here.

I mean is there any other way to debate this fact a full week before they play a snap? Guess I was hoping that someone impressed coaches enough to have locked up one of the spots over anyone else. Hoping at least one of Sowell, Overby, or Townsend can be a X factor for this team. (Certainly won't live up to the seasons Higgins & Noel just had).
Sowell is the best WR on the team and is more athletic than Higgins, and Xavier Townsend might be the best athlete Campbell has ever had at ISU on the offensive side of the ball. Does that help ease any concern you might have? I think you're really letting this get to you when you shouldn't. It's Monday of game week where your Iowa State Cyclones are going to be the marquee game to open up the 2025 college football season. Campbell isn't going to reveal his hand, especially to a conference opponent, in week 0. Take a step away, close your eyes, and take some deep breaths for a minute.

That stood out to me - there are 3 true Freshmen on the depth chart - QB, RG & NG. Those are not the typical true freshmen positions. As others have said, the depth chart is largely meaningless - but any true FR that is listed is worth noting, it's a high honor.
Almost all of the interior D-linemen we bring in play as true freshmen. Moore is gonna be a good one.

The o-lineman out of Utah is supposedly a great run blocker. That's something we really need at RG.

I'm surprised David Coffee didn't make the two-deep.

My biggest concern with this depth chart is that we will be getting flagged for too many men on every play.

Also, I was pretty surprised at the low number of starts for some of our established regulars.
Agreed, Brezina for example had 7 career starts (right column) he will be a true So this year. So that must mean that he had all 7 of those starts last year, he should have earned Bold type face.
