DeAndre Kane in Tournament Finals

l-r:
Jameel McKay
Royce White
Bubu Palo
Donovan Jackson
Tyrus McGee
Darrell Bowie
Marcus Fizer (coach)

Bubu, Tyrus, Darrell & Marcus were there both years that we attended the tournament, 2017 & 2018.

Would Kane’s resume be considered on of the most successful after wearing the cardinal and gold?

While not in the league(because they all thought he was too old), he’s won quite a bit and doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon.

I’d say that honor probably lies with Hornacek, and it’s not really close (though I don’t know much about players from the pre-80s, so maybe someone there).

Hornacek played in 1077 games in 14 seasons. That's almost 77 games a year. I knew he had a nice career but that's impressive.

If I remember right, Kane had and offer from the Lakers but went overseas for more money.

And played in a championship series, losing to MJ’s Bulls. (I’m pretty sure he was on that team still).
I watched the team with Royce on it at the gym the other day while on the treadmill.

I feel for his mental health struggles, but man its hard. That dude based on his talent and ability should have had a ten year nba career where he accrued 50 MM.

Just shows you need the talent and what is between the ears together, can't have one without the other.

There's alot of talent out there that just never gets realized for many different reasons.

After college I helped coach a high school baseball fall league. We had this lefty pitcher, kid had a really bad upbringing, no father figure, and was always in trouble. He had to go to the local "alternative" high school so never got any coaching either. Kid had all kinds of talent but he just didn't have it between the ears to be successful.

Yes, he was on the 97 & 98 Jazz. He was one of their key guys. Stockton, Malone, Russell, Ostertag, Hornacek, and Anderson were their main guys IIRC..

He played in two NBA Finals. The two Utah lost to Chicago.

If not for running into the 90s Bulls, he might have won two championships.

I don't know if we consider him one of "ours," but Wesley Johnson has the second-most games played in school history (again, if you count him) at 609 after Hornacek's 1,077 games played.

Then it is...

547 = Tinsley
541 = Cato
541 = Hoiberg
505 = Abdul-Aziz
438 = Grayer
289 = Fizer
286 = Big Vic
259 = Sam Mack
229 = Niang
205 = Morris
188 = Nader

Give the three at the bottom a few more years and what are hopefully long and productive careers by Haliburton and Horton-Tucker, and they should be right up there pretty soon.

Bottom of that list is gonna really climb if they even just play out current contracts injury free. THT and Tyrese could pass those three too.

List is going to look very different 4-5 years from now.

Just how prolific Hornacek was:
44th all time NBA steals
57th all time NBA assists
19th career FT % (qualified)
36th career 3pt % (qualified)
92nd games played all time...think about this one, only 91 people have played more NBA games
43rd Win Shares

He turned out a ton of production over a very long career. The lack of All Star games and hall of fame consideration is because longevity and overall production are not valued as highly as production in a few peak seasons. Tons of players in the HoF have less career production than Hornacek.

Sometimes I forget that Tinsley had as long of a career as he did. And he was a starter for most of his years in Indiana as well.

Kinda surprised Cato played as many games as Fred, but Fred had to cut his career short because of his heart, I suppose.

Kane wins another TBT! Wow.

And if we don't count Wesley Johnson on those lists, we shouldn't include that less-than-wonderful human being, Sam Mack, who ended up at Arizona State.
