De'Amontae Jackson

Scout & 247 Recruiting list as a commit, so hopefully the majority rules.

It would awesome if he could play MLB. We need a Levon Kirkland-type in the middle wreaking havoc. You youngsters out there probably haven't heard of him. He was 6'1" 270-lb MLB for Clemson then the Steelers. Would be great to have such a player in the middle for us. However, if he shifts to another position & helps us win, I would care less. We need football players making plays, & D'A-J looks like he fits that description.

I am going to disagree here but that's just my opinion. In the Big 12 a huge run stopping MLB isn't needed, you need someone who can run sideline to sideline but is still big enough to not get blown up.

Thing is, in the pros Kirkland got the chance to play 3rd downs when Greg Lloyd went down with an injury & did so well, the next season when Lloyd came back Kirkland stayed on the field for 3rd down. I'm hoping he could be that kind of player.

I hope he is too, but man if he's that kind of player, then Alabama, LSU, Ohio St, etc are really dropping the ball by not snatching this kid up.

I think we are recruiting him at DT and that is where we need him. Hopefully Harris comes along alright and he looks like he had the talent. All we ever ***** about is how we don't have quality DL, especially DT and NT. If this kid can turn into a quality, Big 12 DT, you keep him there.

Still listed as High for us, probably waiting on verifying outside of tweet.... Has some grade issues the way it looks, but huge offer list.....

It is if we can accept i imagine. He "home schooled" jr. And Sr. Year. After having a kid. Would imagine there has to be some transcript issues with that.

Agree here. Looks a little unusual and weird that Rivals still doesn't show committed. Have some skepticism that if those were all commitable offers, that he would not have at least taken a few official visits somewhere. Looks like a good player, though. No doubt.

I completely forgot about this kid throughout the year. Looking at his Twitter, he seems committed and like he will be in Ames for the upcoming year.

Fingers crossed!

Demond Tucker came up on the "similar players" list on his rivals page. Gotta like that!

With Jackson, tucker, leath, and nearness next year we should have talented depth!

Kirkland looked like he weighed 300 lbs.

Add in Jamal Johnson and we should have serious depth for rotating players.

I sure hope we stay with the 3-4 with players like Reggan Northrup and Jay Jones, because I wonder how much they are able to play as 4-3 OLBs......just don't think either one could play SS and play the pass consistently well.

If Jackson wasn't an NCAA academic qualifier out of HS then he has to spend 4 semesters at juco before he can sign sign with a d1 team.
