This is a problem with prime too.

For people who only watch popular new releases all they need is a simple algorithm.

I need to spend an hour or two searching any of these to find all the content I'd want to watch when I'm interested in classic films and documentaries.

Choice paralysis is a real problem with a lot of these streamers. Right now I only have the Hulu/D+/ESPN+ package basically because I signed up for a year. If I have to spend more than 10 minutes scrolling to find something I'm just not going to watch anything.

gore didn’t bother me too much, just get the movie lacked a bit of coherence and charm. The over the top gore really wasn’t necessary, but it isn’t what turned me off of the movie.

On top of the gore, there was quite a bit of swearing. Like about 40 f-bombs. I don’t mind but my kids were excited to see it and it was way over the top for language.

Yeah, everyone has to make their own choice, but if you ask me, I would not recommend this movie for young kids, which does eliminate a good portion of your viewing audience. Sure, you will pick up a few more because you have that stuff, but you will likely lose more than you gain and somewhat cap your top-end potential. Sure, there was the anomaly and craze that was Deadpool, but I consider that more the exception than the rule. Shoot, DC already just did a hard "R" Birds of Prey movie experiment which did not perform well, and it even shared a character with Suicide Squad. With all that said, I'm not saying DC shouldn't do any more "R" rated DC movies, but I'd maybe think really hard about it if you do, especially if you are wanting to go big-budget with it. The $185 million budget for The Suicide Squad looked great, but probably was not the smartest for an "R" rated movie.

Beings how I got into Batman at such a young age through Tim Burtons movie, no matter how much I personally would enjoy a "R" rated Batman just fine, I tend to think it would be a shame to deprive future kids of that same opportunity. Both Burton's and Nolan's movies also proved you can still go pretty dark and violent for Batman without an "R" rating and without completely turning parents away from showing youngerish kids.

Again, if you are DC and at some point you look at your slate of films to find that nearly half of them or even 40% of them are "R" rated, you likely need to double-check yourself on who exactly these films are meant to be for. Last time I checked, 3 out of the last 4 theatrically released DC films have been "R" rated, which I was shocked to even realize myself. It's just one of those things you look back at and are like huh, how did we even get to this point? Maybe we've strayed a bit from the mark. Let's not forget that a lot of what makes these comic properties so special and suvive so long is their ability to always capture the hearts of the next generation over and over at such young ages too.

I will say I am a bit surprised by the number of ok to negative reactions on the movie so far on here, especially when compared to the very high both audience and critics Rotten Tomato score. I guess I thought it would be a bit more positive, but maybe I'm wrong. That isn't to knock anyone's sentiments in the slightest, but definately interesting to take in and digest. Clearly Gunn went all-out to the extreme with this one, which likely in itself was enough to turn off a certain segment of the audience, and that seems to be a bit of what I'm gathering so far in here.

From what I’m able to tell, people who saw it in theaters LOVED it while people watching it at home thought it was “ok”. I imagine the audience effect would probably hugely bolster this movie. I had a pretty good laugh over the rescue operation for Rick Flag, I can only imagine how good the theater’s reaction to it was.

Now that I’ve had a day to think over it, I think the greener you are going into this one, the more enjoyable it was. If they didn’t reveal Starro in the trailer I think I would have appreciated how crazy the final act was. And speaking of the trailer — I felt like they revealed too much ahead of time, something I’ve felt with a lot of DCEU films. There were too many tent pole moments in the trailer that allowed me to piece together what was going to happen ahead of time.

I envy you. My wife hates blood and gore and had no interest in going with me. Most of my friends were too concerned about COVID to agree going. It’s probably better that I stayed home, but this is one movie I wished I could have seen with a crowd.

‘The Suicide Squad’ HBO Max Weekend Viewership Off 26% From ‘Mortal Kombat’ In Samba TV U.S. Households

Third-party streaming analytics company Samba TV said 2.8 million U.S. households watched The Suicide Squad on HBO Max in its first weekend.

Looks like The Suicide Squad did OK on HBO Max coming in #2 all-time for their viewership on the first weekend of release, but came in still a ways off from the #1 release of Mortal Kombat. Honestly, with growing numbers of overall subscribers every month for HBO Max, I think it is a bit sad it couldn't edge out Mortal Kombat to be #1, so I look at that as a bit of a disappointment.

Yeah that was honestly a terrible adaptation. It made the 1995 MK look like a masterpiece in comparison.

It should be mentioned that this is the 3rd DC property to release on HBO Max (WW1984 & Birds of Prey being the other two), so I suppose WB can say that The Suicide Squad is a success in those terms, but to say MK had more viewership than THREE DC properties is a trend.

Haha, I didn't find this recent Mortal Kombat to be that bad. Did I find it to be good? Probably not, but it at least entertained me enough for what I was expecting.

It seemed to me like a proof of concept that knew it wasn’t good enough for full funding so it threw everything it could at the screen knowing full well there wouldn’t be a sequel.

Seriously how many major characters did they kill off without even getting to the damn tournament? All that’s left now is B listers.

Also I’m never a fan of taking an established franchise with beloved characters and making them bit players around a created for the movies character. Resident Evil is the most egregious example but this wasn’t far behind.

Just curious if there are any Superman and Lois watchers out there at all? I've finally started the series myself and am 3 episodes in so far. A little background on me, I was an avid everything Arrowverse watcher for years, posting reviews and ratings on every season of every show. You may or may not remember them. However, with every subsequent season, the whole concept just became more tiring and not as good of quality for me to the point where I eventually gave up on it a year or so ago. Haven't looked back since. However, when Superman and Lois came out and it not only looked visually intriguing, but also seemingly at the time looked to NOT be a part of the Arrowverse (a big positive for me), I've thought I'd eventually would give it a try.

Anway, I delved in and surprisingly loved the first episode due to its non-arrowverse, cinematic Man of Steel quality, as well as its interesting premise of father Superman. Again, I wanted something non-Arrowverse look and quality and it seemed like that was what they were giving us. However since then, I haven't loved the last couple episodes as much, even though they have been decent, and it seems to be looking and feeling more and more Arrowverse again to the point where I'm not sure whether or not to keep watching. Was curious anyone else's thoughts who have been watching it and whether or not I should continue????

I saw it in the theatre. It was okay.

I didn’t see enough trailers to spoil anything important.

Yeah not that Suicide Squad is high brow but it is a reminder (like the ravenous F&F fanbase) of a pretty non-discriminating mass market viewer.

I just watched E1 of Titans and was kind of shocked by the production value of at least that first episode. IMHO slickest looking superhero series other than Watchmen (I saw the old Netflix marvel but not D+ series yet).

I went to a documentary film in LA the night SpaceJam opened (first trip back to a theater) and there were at least 300 people in line just for concessions, absolutely packed. LA county had just 1.8 cases per 100k people per day. I think the night The Suicide Squad opened a few weeks later it was back up to around 30 per day per 100k...definitely a feeling like it might be back to normal then a not so fast gut punch.
