CMC doesn’t obsess about Iowa like we do.
Still beating Iowa consistently is a major step to winning instate recruiting battles. So it's on his whiteboard.
An Austin reporter commented after we played Texas. He said the Horns looked pretty strong and athletic, but ISU looked like an NFL team.
Winning instate recruiting battles is not a big priority for this staff. The state of Iowa just doesn’t turn out enough top flight recruits for it to be a priority.
I want to get over the hump against Iowa, but I'm good with 8-1 conference records in the meantime
The last game against Iowa was a huge outlier. And what I mean by that is Iowa had to have some very strange things happen to win that game. The offensive output disparity between the two teams was so large that prior to that game, in the last 10 years over 500 games the lower output team was 1-499. That is a .2% chance of winning. Turnovers were a big equalizer but the biggest kicker was the only holding call for both teams came out on the same play after the egregious PI foul was flagged. The Big 10 had a hand in propping one of their teams. Now consider that Iowa had a very experienced team that year and will be a lot less experienced this year while we will be significantly stronger this year than we were in 2019.
I think it's worth noting that with most of our key players coming back, there's less to "figure out" at the beginning of the year. I like our chances this year, but KF will have them ready as always.
Howard Brown on his and Jaylin Noel’s new YouTube channel answered the question on why he chose Iowa State. One of the main reasons why was because of Dave Andrews. Howard said he did his research on him and said he wanted to work with the guy that molded one of the biggest physical freaks in the NFL in Aaron Donald. Howard also says he wears #99 because of Donald. So I’d say Dave Andrews just doesn’t immensely help us in the weight room but also on the recruiting trail.
He’s just as important to keep around as Heacock or Manning. He’s a next level guy.
I think keeping Scheelhaase around will be super important too. He won't want to stay as just a position coach forever.

I love the staff. Seem to get it and ISU in every way. If, and obviously it's a big if, Campbell moves on I sincerely hope we promote from within and the person we hire retains as much of the staff as possible.
