Dan passed away today. If you were around high school wrestling very much, you probably crossed paths with him. A great ambassador for Iowa High School wrestling and the athletes and coaches that he covered with the Des Moines Register. RIP

I remember him as a young pup when I was a student at UNI. He could hold court then with great stories.

I believe he was the one that took pictures of us on the medal stand at the tournaments and sent them to us. Was he from Clarion in the North Central Conference?

Yeah, he was from Clarion. Small world connection here: his dad delivered me when I was born.

Dan was a great guy who will be dearly missed. Gone too soon.

One of the best ever, he was wrestling in Iowa to the core. It was always our goal when wrestling in high school to get interviewed by him and what a thrill it was when he would meet you off the mat to ask you questions.

I always found myself spending almost an entire session at state every year just chatting with him the last few years. Definitely going to be a void going forward.
