Jake Brend explains the latest college sports gambling scandal with Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby. What does it mean for Iowa State and the Big 12? Presented by Whiskey River in the Northwest Bank Studios.

Hope everybody got in early on the 11.5 under for Tech. @ChrisMWilliams put that one on a platter for us.

So picture this...............the NCAA figures out a way to lest Sorsby play with minimal game time missed. Every other athlete who had a ban due to gambling will then probably sue the NCAA for not receiving similar treatment. (ala Hunter Dekers) That could open up a whole slew of actions against the NCAA on a variety of issues.

Hypothetically, once again, the lack of consistency and clarity could create massive headaches for them.

Most likely is the ncaa bans him for life and then tech turns around and sues him for any funds that have already been paid out.

This is going to put a huge spotlight on the absolutely shocking lack of any sort of ethics in American society right now.

I’m guessing they’ll find some mealy mouthed excuse to let him play.

Yeah, I could see it. Throw the book at Dekkers and Uwazarike, but let Sorsby play after a few game suspension.

Sorsby could enter the NFL supplemental draft that's in July and instead of sitting out a year at Tech, he could still be penalized and sit for a year behind a veteran and get a head start on the 2027 season, compared to other 2027 rookies. He's a projected 2027 first round pick anyways, so this may work out for him. This is similar to the Terrelle Pryor situation back in 2011

Well, they start the season with Abilene Christian so missing that game should be more than enough punishment. They do however have an early conference game with Houston on Sept 18th.
