Cytown Update

I hope so. I seem to be in the minority, but I really like Torrent. I like Alluvial as well, but with Torrents large menu I can sample and always find a couple I like.

But it would be awesome to have another to be a draw, and maybe hit both for a beer in a given night.
Random question, but do you know if they're still using plastic fermenters like they were when they opened?

I really like Torrent. Alluvial probably has better beer but it’s located so far outside of town that it’s a pain to get to. When I have meetings in Ames, I usually hit Torrent for a few flights while my Great Plains is cooking.

Alluvial is outside of town but it is not pain to get to by any stretch. Downtown, campus, west side, it’s about 4 turns. I could argue torrent is harder to navigate from several spots in Ames, and at Alluvial, you never have to worry about parking which is not the same for torrent.

Can anybody explain why the AD took on CY and Fischer and all the repair costs that go along g with them?
I don’t know officially but I think it had to do with the AD’s track record of running a profitable event business and now thinking about it could have been a requirement to get CyTown going which makes perfect sense since it is an entertainment district and not strictly for sports.

I don’t know who ran it previously, perhaps the hospitality department? Hotel and event management? Not sure what the dept is called just familiar with the major at ISU.

ISU itself. No department. And ISU kept deferring maintenance, so costs continued to rise. Similar to other buildings on campus, but obviously the uses of the IS Center buildings are different from those on campus with classrooms, labs, etc. VenuWorks was hired years ago as the management company for booking shows and doing coordinated and associated programming.

That appears to be a really good ground lease for Jamie. No landlord development or operating costs, just pure profit.
What are the alternatives? Maybe it will drive increased housing demand surrounding the rest of the development.

The snark here legitimately makes me excited for next year’s update. You better deliver!
Im currently on campus … maybe I will stop by to see if they made any updates from Saturday.

I thought they approved a bid to replace the carpet so I was surprised it hadnt been replaced yet.

I'm sad Murph and Andy are ending only because Pollards monthly appearances usually came with a CyTown update.
I would like news.

Over the last few weeks, they've planted several trees.
