Cytown Update

Wallaby's has very poor food in my opinion, El Azteca has great food, but I can only eat Mexican a limited amount of time before it gets tiresome. The Cafe is great but has a very limited menu, and I have never tried Wasabi, is that the new place going in down from the Cafe? As many homes as there are in the northern part of Ames there just is not a lot here to eat, none unless you want a sit down meal. No subs, no fast food, nothing for the its getting late and what are going to eat crowd.
Wasabi is down the street east from The Cafe and around the corner to the left/north. The former +39/Brick City location had a sign up for a long time but took it down when some work started there. Don’t remember the name.

Surprised me when Brick City closed after switching locations. Seemed busy enough when I went, was that a management change?
It always seemed half way crowded the few times we ate there before it closed. Being a sports bar, one would think that in N. Ames with so many families, there would be not be a lot of "let's head to the bar and drink crowd."

Also in north Ames is Ge Angelos. Reminds me of neighborhood family run Italian restaurants in south St. Louis. Pizza is quite good.

My wife and I would go Ge Angelos in the early 00s in school. She's from Mason City and was familiar with the GeJos in Clear Lake. I think they are owned by the same family or something.

Really? Take 13th St exit from I35. North on Stange for a mile and you are there. 15 minutes top from exit.

I know how to ******* get there.

I come to Ames for 2 reasons: 1) my clients and 2) ISU FB/BB games. So if it isn't convenient to get to from FB/BB games it's not worth my time and anything in Sommerset isn't convenient from FB/BB games.

And 15 minutes from I35 is also not convenient when there are numerous other restaurants within 5 minutes from 30 and 35.

It would also help if it was actually good

This CyTown space seems to me like it would be a pretty risky venture for a restaurant to put in a big enough place to handle all the game day crowds, but then make a go of it on non game days.

It’s a conundrum for that particular space. For game days you really need to have multiple restaurants in there, but they will be dead most other days.

I think the best solution honestly is to have space somewhere for a bunch of food trucks. But I’m not sure how CyTown makes money off of that? Would you charge them a significant fee to rent a spot? I don’t know enough to know how that all works?

Since a lot of us avoid Duff ave, perhaps a few restaurants could make a run in Cytown.
