I want to see the Hawks go to Boise to play on that freaking blue turf so one of our fans at a warm destination bowl game can hold up a sign on national tv ridiculing them for playing in that worthless bowl.Gotta respectfully disagree. Five wins tops. No bowl game, lots of angry Hok “fans” demanding change and melting down over Cyclone success. It’s going to be a lot of fun. We may be witnessing the end of Hok football success similar to what happened to Nebraska. Unlike the Nebraska fans, Hok fans will desert this program in droves.
The only thing is had the ref called interference instead of ruling fumble, I could see us winning in 24-6 or something like that. That play killed a lot of our momentumI'll hold on to think Iowa's pretty good and will have a decent season.
The 'Iowa just sucks' thing is kind of like 'overrated' chants.
ISU is better and things like the very last Iowa series show it out but it wasn't like they were going to win 40-10 even if they connect on some throws etc.
PFF is not solid info.I wasn’t aware that allowing 2 sacks during crunch time graded you that high with PFF
Agree, I have watched more of their stuff this year, and what I have seen only makes me question their rating system more and more.PFF is not solid info.
Look up how they do things. One person rates every player for every play and then a supervisor who understands more double checks about 8 people’s stuff and sees if something is out of whack. This is all inputted by the next day.Agree, I have watched more of their stuff this year, and what I have seen only makes me question their rating system more and more.
I would like to know what some of their criteria is, because some of their rankings seems really off. I am sure its probably available, I just have not had enough interest to look, but it does not seem like its always very accurate to reality.
Ah so it is not really stat based, just perception based?Look up how they do things. One person rates every player for every play and then a supervisor who understands more double checks about 8 people’s stuff and sees if something is out of whack. This is all inputted by the next day.
1) how do they see every player on every play?
2) how do they know the assignment?
3) how does this all get done within a half a day or so?
Why, they are not going to fire the guy, he has built up too much good will to fire him and move on, and even if they did, his buyout is $24 million, they do not have the money to buy him out. What we want is for him to stick around and bury the program, which is entirely possible, he is very stubborn and will not retire and go away. We want them to go the next four years struggling to get to .500, all the while the cyclones are getting 9 to 11 win seasons, high school kids in the state want to go to Ames not IC, and their fan base starts to act in football like they did for their bb team and stop showing up. Then when free rents walks away, we want them to go through a coach or two that makes them even worse. The old B10 west is not coming back, looking at their schedule next years its not going to be any better and they lose a lot of their better players. New QB, two of the best O lineman, same thing on the defense line, they lose one of either their punter or field goal kicker. This is the start of the end of them, and some in their fan base is starting to realize it.Ok hear me out. Iowa needs to win at least 7 games. I prefer an over the hill Ferentz vs them catching lightning in a bottle with their next hire.
Yeah the only thing we whiffed on was giving the country another FG/field position competition in this series. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing style to gather the casuals in that time slot. The stadium and atmosphere looked great though. Iowa being a laughingstock does not help this series nationally.Probably would have hit 5 if Iowa was ranked and it wasn’t a low scoring FG fest
Nah. I'd rather roll the dice. They're due for a bad hire. I want to see a return to 60-70s Iowa football. Two decades of futility.Ok hear me out. Iowa needs to win at least 7 games. I prefer an over the hill Ferentz vs them catching lightning in a bottle with their next hire.
Doesn't he still get a performance bonus at 7 wins? I think they keep him if only wins 3.Ok hear me out. Iowa needs to win at least 7 games. I prefer an over the hill Ferentz vs them catching lightning in a bottle with their next hire.
It’s actually not much roll of dice, either have a good hire like free rent and win three out of four, or someone like frank lautabur and win four of four.Nah. I'd rather roll the dice. They're due for a bad hire. I want to see a return to 60-70s Iowa football. Two decades of futility.
Wikipedia is never a reliable source, so not convinced this is correct. I do know it has been very inconsistently interpreted by refs over the years. From Wikipedia
The entire ball must pass through the vertical plane of the goal, which is the area above the crossbar and between the uprights or, if above the uprights, between their outside edges
So I think you are correct in your understanding
So I believe, and someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but the ball has to pass between the goalposts, it cannot go over. The goalposts are infinite tall figuratively.
They're not beating Nebraska or USC and probably not Minny. 5-7.UAlbany -W
ISU -L
Umass-W
Rutgers-W
Indiana- L
Wisconsin-W
Penn State-L
Minnesota-W
Oregon-L
USC-W
Michigan State- W

Yeah, I do think 8 wins is most likely. With 9 wins and 7 wins being almost as likely. 6 is not out of the cards, but 10 would mean a major upset.
5-6 wins next few years. Just enough to keep him around. Preferably with no or low tier bowl games. I like another poster's idea to send them to Boise.Ok hear me out. Iowa needs to win at least 7 games. I prefer an over the hill Ferentz vs them catching lightning in a bottle with their next hire.
Will they go deeper in debt to pay off Kirk, and bring in Dabo or Kleiman?
