Cyhawk postgame thread

Everyone is insinuating they "Think" he was talking about the refs.

To me he was talking about mistakes more than anything. In fact he even says Mistakes at the same time he was talking bout 2 opponents, meaning we were also playing against ourselves with our mistakes. It very well have been he meant a combination of things, including the refs.

I think we can all assume he was talking about the refs etc. but claiming you know exactly what he was referencing in that quote is just not true.
He's quite obviously talking about the refs in a way that the Big 12 cannot come after him. He's not stupid or so out of control with his rage to say the obvious directly.

Was there any effort from the students or anyone to storm the field?

I kind of wish it was a common thing for fans to go on the field to celebrate with the players in a non-storm way about every home win but was glad there wasn't anything yesterday.
No effort by anybody that I saw. The Fox crew was kinda where the students were and they protected that area pretty good.

Incredible how the Hoks skirt the best teams, and play a lot of mediocre to bad teams.

It’s still a really easy schedule vs our b12 round robin years, but it’s a clear step up for them.

I picked a random year, 2015, and we played #2, #3, #8 and #15 in our conference that season.

On what was ruled a muffed punt refs said it touched Townsend doesn't the punt returner have to be allowed room to make the catch. The Iowa player definitely interfered with his ability to make the catch.

I think Seth Wallace would be the heir apparent there, but I’m guessing the AD wants to wash her hands of the whole staff and go in a different direction altogether.
I think they are counting on LeVar Woods. Was he a linebacker at the end of the Fry era?

They picked up the flag that 2 officials threw because they determined he was "blocked into the returner". Utter bull as the blocker disengaged around 5-10 yards prior and then the Iowa player backed into Townsend with his hands up to pretend, he was blocked into him. He had to alter his vector after the blocker disengaged which would have had him go two yards or so to Townsend's left. Obviously, the head official or some other official overruled. Perhaps took Iowa and the points.

Yes he wasn't blocked into him, he backed into him. They ruled since Townsend supposedly touched it first it was a free ball. I still say they interfered because they didn't give him room to make the catch.

I want to like PFF ratings, but they had Groin rated higher 69.2 than Rocco 68.8.

I CANNOT take them seriously anymore.
Did you see how many throws Rocco missed? This wasn’t one of his better games, he got it done in the end, but if he wouldn’t have missed the throws he did in the 3rd quarter he wouldn’t have needed the lucky bounce to Burke.

He definitely was off his A game. The drops on those tougher catches on deeper balls also didn’t help his numbers.

He missed a couple. I feel like the receivers left a lot on the field yesterday. Have to make those difficult contested catches when it hits your hands.

Some of the better posts on social media from Hok fans
1. Iowa has become the meme of college football, so why would kids want to go there.
2. Beth has enough $ for a buyout.
3. Brent Bielema was mentioned by more than one.
4. Fans have come to the realization that realignment and NIL will make Iowa a bottom feeder in the Big 10.
What about Bob Stoops?

I wish Iowa luck ever getting a playoff birth out of the big 10. Are they going to long term out spend Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington or USC?

Heck, Michigan State? Illinois? Wisconsin?

I could see them hiring him and keeping the defensive staff in place plus loosening the reigns on the offense. Would probably work ok. They may end up missing the development piece they’ve had, but the same defense with a better offense is a good recipe. I don’t think they can compete with the top of their conference no matter who they hire, but I could see them being 4th to 6th some years.

I think Rocco had an underrated game, if the recievers catch 3 or 4 of those really well thrown balls, the narrative would be different. He really only had 4 subpar throws i remember. The burkle catch I wonder if he was throwing to who tipped it or if it was supposed to go to burkle.
I trust Rocco more than I ever did Brock

Indiana just got a berth

It’ll be dependent on the schedule. Like Indiana, there’s a good chance TV networks won’t have Iowa playing a lot of top brands

They should go after Pat Fitzgerald
