Will the result of this be choppiness or poorer picture quality?

Can anyone with FireTV comment on the sports viewing experience through VUE?
Ihave a ps4, fire stick and fire tv, haven't noticed much difference. I haven't been watching fb on it, but you get a free week to try it. If you don't like it return the fire tv to amazon. Only complaint is flipping through the guide or searching for channels is slow someone's, but no lag on tv programs at all

So PS Vue apparently has broadcast channels for the major cities. Has anyone tried to set one of these as their home market to get these channels? Could they really track where you are?

LOL... yeah. The internet knows where you are these days bud.

I've been watching Twins games on both the FireTV and PS3 and the picture is perfect. I have 40Mbps Internet, so YMMV

I also read that that a PS4 is currently the only way to consistently get 60 FPS with all channels (30 FPS is normal for the other devices). This is worth noting for sports and one reason why I haven't moved to VUE,

This is only true for Firetv devices. You get 60 FPS with a chromecast. The last update for the firetv box was supposed to enable 60 fps, but it doesn't really deliver. I would think it would be fixed soon.

How much data per month do you think is reasonable for regular viewing of the Vue? I'm thinking about switching to Mediacom and they supposedly have a 350 gb limit.

Thanks for the info. I'm assuming you have Chromecast? If so hows the menu speed/quality?

If you're used to using a chromecast it's not a big deal. But you don't get the full menu/options/control like you do on the ps4/firetv box.

I spent 10 bucks more and my cap is 999 gb and my speed was doubled to 100mb down.

Can anyone give pros/cons between the chromecast & fire stick? Looks like the prices are $35 vs $40, any other differences?

I also have a PS4 that has been having WiFi connectivity issues lately, anybody experience problems there? It's in my basement, but I do have a good router & my laptop gets 3 of 4 bars in the same location.

I have been using Sling for about a year now and happy with it. I have a Roku 3 and I am able to use many apps by piggybacking off my in laws direct tv account. I use antenna for the Des Moines locals.

I've had Vue for a couple of months now. If you're a huge sports fan, plan on keeping your phone away from you while watching anything live. Also, if you have anything less than 20mps and using more than 1 devise at a time, expect buffering in the evenings (I'm using Century Link in Johnston)

Yeah I love my Roku 3, lightning fast between apps and I never get buffering for any app with 50 Mbps Internet.

Worth nothing for those thinking about Vue..

Yesterday I purchased Chromecast to try Vue. Turns out you have to a Playstation 3 or 4, Fire device or Roku to activate your profile first. Then you can use Chromecast. I don't have any other device so it's not an ideal situation for first impressions.

Pretty shocked you can't activate through a web browser! I think I remember the setup was a little odd when I did it.

Yeah, you need a device for the initial setup. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. Just buy a used PS3 from gamestop and then return it.

I had a similar problem with PS3 in my basement. I opted to to use a PowerLine adapter and an old wireless router to A) increase the WiFi in my house and B) Run a hard wire line to the PS3. Has been working great since.

For about $30 I was able to get better WiFi signal in/around my home and better signal to PS3.

I'm on a 50 mps, 350 gb cap with Mediacom and they told me that to reach that limit I need to steam Netflex 24-7 for 21 days.

According to Netflix, using their “High” data usage setting runs through 3 GB per hour when streaming High Definition (HD) videos and 7 GB per hour for Ultra HD. The “Medium” setting only uses 0.7 GB per hour for a Standard Definition (SD) video.

I watched a couple hours of sling tv (set to highest quality) and then an hour of Netflix and it used almost 10 gig. You can monitor it online.
