I am wondering if anybody has gone through a similar situation, and did you do in it...

So currently my fiance and I are having a jewelry store custom design her wedding band. However, we have been going back and forth since July and they have not been able to get the design right. The first design they made was almost correct, and after the meeting with the jeweler it sounded like it would be an easy fix. At this point I made a 50% deposit on the estimated budget (I think this was a mistake). 3.5 months later we haven't been able to get any closer to our ring design.

I am meeting with them on Tuesday one more time, and at this point I feel like it should be their last chance to get it right. My fiance was very excited about having a custom made band, because we were going to use diamonds from her grandma's ring. However, the back and forth have caused her to be very upset with the process. My question is, if I decide to no longer use this jeweler for the wedding band how should I go about getting as much of my money back as it is fair for both parties?

It's going to depend a lot on how large of an operation the jeweler is. We have family that runs their own custom jewelry operation and if they ran into the same situation they would need that security deposit to have made those changes worth their time. I think getting your wife's diamonds back would be the priority but if I were in your shoes I wouldn't expect a full or even 50% refund. Here's hoping that they get it right and you don't have to worry about it. Good luck

It is a family owned business. They have two fairly good size stores in two different towns.

I am hoping they get it right. The frustrating part was that we would meet with them to talk about what changes we thought were needed, and in every meeting it was seemed like they understood it. However, when the next wax or 3d model would come in they would either only have done half of the changes or something else completely different.
