This was an interesting watch.

Cignetti obviously has an ego, but hearing his story and understanding how he thinks and operates both inside and outside of coaching was fascinating.

Hard not to draw some similar conclusions to how Jimmy Rogers operates. Both seem to have "no nonsense" type of personalities and know what they need to be successful. Indiana is working with more financial resources than ISU, but maybe CJR can create some magic here with his philosophy, just like Cignetti has everywhere he's been.

Only time will tell!

How was Cignetti able to do with Indiana what Campbell was unable to do at ISU?

Money/NIL?

He’s a great coach and talent evaluator. Nailed the transfer portal and now he’s cashing $11 million checks.

I think it’s both. He’s an elite mind with a killer mentality. He reminds me of Saban with how he seems miserable even after they win.

They also have a ton of NIL money. I think it was reported they spent $30m+ on their roster this year?

IU has one of the best business schools in the country. So I’m sure they have a lot of very wealthy alumni.

Yep! He also was Nick Saban's Recruiting Co-ordinator for 5 years (2007-11) when Saban was building his empire. The man knows where all the bodies are buried! Great Coach. Great Recruiter. Great hire by Indiana! He is the real deal. Won at every level at a high level. Bottom line is that he is a Winner.

Or maybe he's just a better coach.
I don’t think you can make a great argument against Cignetti at this point against any other coach in the country when looking at tradition, resources, and difficulty of winning at Indiana.

Kinda like Bill Snyder, who doesn’t get the recognition he deserves doing what he did at Kansas State.

So he knows how much to pay players then?

Did you google that?

Cignetti has that killer attitude that Campbell lacks, is the biggest difference. Look at their game today, up 31 to 3 Cignetti is pouring it on, and they scored again. There is no doubt in my mind that Campbell would have pulled the starters by then, and would fine running clock and getting to the end of the game. Saban had that same attitude, if you don't like it, then stop it.
