MLB: Cubs interested in Ryan Freel

I know it's early in the season but DeRosa is on pace to surpass his #'s from last year. I believe he has 6 hr's already and is hitting in the high .200's.

He is one of the better utility guys in the majors right now.

He's hitting .250. I still like the trade, one of the guys we got for him has an ERA of 0 in AAA out of the BP. Its not like we got garbage for him.

Ryan Freel is a bad guy.

The Cubs need to stand pat and weather the storm. May is not the time to get jumpy about the state of the team. Ramirez is back in the lineup.
Typically the Cubs wait til the play-offs to get jumpy!!!

Stevens has done well so far but I'm still irked they traded him away and didn't spin those prospects off as part of a Peavy trade like many thought they would. Who knows, maybe closer to the deadline that trade heats up again...

I'd not be at all shocked if they ended up trading at least 2 of those prospects if the cubs are to aquire Peavy

If the Cubs don't end up getting Peavy this season, then the DeRosa dumping will go down as one of the worst deals in recent memory.

I think Freel will be better in the National League. He's more comfortable having played most of his career in it and they tend to challenge hitters more than they do in the American league
