This program badly needs a re-boot. Past history suggests that institutionally (President, AD, Boosters) ISU just doesn't know how to "do" football. I'm pretty vocal on here today saying Rhoads should be done. Either way, I think the AD could benefit from some outside help that could provide some no holds barred analysis and advice as to how to move this football program forward. It could be a mix of college and NFL, player, coach, management experience. I could see a group of 3-5 that could provide a blue print for how to get out of the bottom of the conference. Just of the top of my head, I could see John Cooper, Bill Polian and Sage Rosenfels making one heck of a committee. I'd be interested in others' thoughts as to who could act in an advisory role to ISU to help stop the string of bad decision making that has plagued this program.

Leath sucks.

Cltrl Alt Del would be nice. But it wouldn't get rid of that damn stupid contract.

Careful Norcalcy-- I've read many times on this board that JP is the best AD in the nation......

LOL - if our AD needs a committee to figure out how to make a head coaching hire and right basically the only thing that truly matters in Power 5 conference sports, then we need a new AD. That is in the job description.

Disclaimer: I am a Pollard fan for the most part

Institutional may mean more than the AD and university. Isn't ISU the third largest university in the B12, but last athletics donations?

Need coaches who can recruit and the next head coach I personally don't want a D coordinator, but more offensive minded.

But Leath brings in research dollars....federal research dollars...federal dollars contributing to a deficit that is unsustainable.....All is well.

Why does Leath suck?

Because people have no idea what they're talking about. Leath is very good for ISU as a whole, well beyond athletics, which is an incredibly stupid scope within which to judge a university president (by itself). But even within that, Leath played a role in retaining Hoiberg. The Bubu situation is people with 1% of information yelling about decisions made by those who had 100%. I'm not aware of any way that Leath impacted football other than his support for the JTS renovation project. So why does he suck? Because long story short, people just love complaining.

I resisted thinking or even saying this back when it looked like we were going to be a Mountain West conference team......but maybe we should be Mountain West team or an American Conference team. You really have to try and maintain your faith on days like today........
Someone else mentioned coaching "momentum"....this is true. The momentum equates to compounding recruiting success and GOOD assistant coach retention. The upward momentum has been gone from this group since losing to West Virginia at home prior to the Liberty Bowl....you could argue the failed two-point conversion against Nebraska at home. Ugh.

Actually, from what it sounds like, Iowa State failed in it's "sexual assault awareness" according to the government, so Bubu was likely Leath trying to save face by saying "Hey, look, I suspended him immediately!"

Any president would've supported SEZ.

And any president would've tried retaining Hoiberg, but I'm confused. You really think he was a big reason Hoiberg is still here?

Really, what I get from your post is "He is good for the university because 2/3rds of the things he does is what every president would do."
