Crowd sucked tonight

So I was at the game and honestly it was the worst experience I've had at a Cyclone basketball game. I got yelled at to sit down during the second half and over heard an old lady say she thought I was a nice girl but I guess not because I was standing up and cheering . When did we become a fan base that turns on each other for cheering? Honestly if you are going to sit there and do nothing, stay at home. This loss wasn't the fans fault but our fans base wasn't great tonight.

Years and years ago. It seems like it happens a lot in Hilton and JTS. Usually grumpy old people.

Sat in the 12th row of section 108 and I can attest to some of the things mentioned in this thread. EVERY single time we would try to cheer them on to making a run Maryland would make a shot. Don't blame this on the fans in any way. Sure it wasn't the crazy like it was at the Big 12 Tourney but like others have stated it's two days before Thanksgiving. There were hardly any student aged people there, and they were predicting snow around midnight. Pretty much the exact time I hit the border on the way home.

Our guys weren't meshing real well last night and seemed bogged down offensively. We were forced to take shots late in the clock and the majority of those shots ended up being forced shots. Couple that in with next to nothing on the fast break I would say the credit belongs to Maryland. Don't be a sore loser and blame it on the fans, the last thing I want to hear after driving for 7 hours round trip, spending $300-$400 on tix, booze, dinner and parking from a fan that wasn't there was that it's my fault. I'd kindly tell you to GFY and punch you right in the face had you said this to me in person.

This was a 98% ISU crowd and they just sucked. I know the team didn't play well....but the crowd never ******* got loud.

You got to be kidding. Did you go to the game? Crowd got loud but Maryland silenced us every single time. You blame **** poor shooting on crowd? What were you expecting? Sprint Center filled with 16000 Cyclone fans on two days before Thanksgiving? Many of us paid more than 130 dollars a seat for this game and you are saying that we sucked? geez.

I'll probably do the same.

*****, you're a idiot. I was there and the fans would cheer like heck whenever there was any reason to cheer. Shooting <30% and you lose most games dumb ***.

I got this at the bowl game when we played Min back in CPR first year.

A couple (gonna guess 50-60 years old) requested that I not stand a cheer. I was blocking their view.

I am a tall guy so I can get that to an extent but it was only after some of the bigger plays.

I think I'm going to make a top 25 dumbest thread list at the end of the year. Where does this one belong? I'm thinking top 10 at worst.

OK, SuperCycloneFan, whatever. But have you never heard of making halftime adjustments? Or calling a timeout to stop the bleeding? Or making a strategically timed beer run to create one of those rare triple-anti-jinx phenomena that Stephen Hawking has written about?

Maryland (and ISU to a lesser extent) took the crowd out early. You could tell teh crowd was waiting for a reason to cheer, would get excited, and they'd bury a 3.

It's kinda a vicious cycle, but the team needs to play better to make the crowd better.

This. I was there as well. We couldn't buy a basket in the 2nd half. But a couple times we really got after it defensively and then the crowd would rise to its feet and get into it. As poorly as we played, i t was a 2 possession game with about 1:30 left.

I remember looking at the stats and seeing 16/54 FG - about a 28-29% clip and only 7 assists. We did not share the ball or movie it well. Maryland did a great job of controlling the pace and making us work on the defensive end. I thought Maryland's game plan was well executed and now our opponents have a blue print of how to slow us down.

Clones21 will make that top 25 list a lot!
