This particular guy moved on after 7 months. Not two years.
So the starting safeties are now: anthony Johnson, Beau Freyler, and who? Maybe we could use a guy like purchase as a star and Tampa and Kyle as corners
This is the one theory I think could be NIL related. Maybe he was frustrated with the camp not working out and realized it’s easier to make money elsewhere?
Sounds like we require our students to earn their NIL opportunities, while other schools may allow their sponsors to just hand money over.
I get the thinking behind making students earn their opportunities. But maybe it’s tough to make much money out of those opportunities. Morality may be our downfall here

of course this is the case. At other schools all you have to do is show up and you get money. For example, look at OU, if you are a scholarship football player you get 50 grand. This will be the case in most of the SEC for sure. I don't believe they make them do anything for it. ISU is in a brutal position, unless we are willing to outright pay our most talented players, agents will be in their ears and either they will pay them or other school will pluck them and pay them.
Not sure how many schools that we recruit against, mainly Big 10, will be huge payers without guys having to do something for NIL. Nebraska for sure. Ohio State has always payed player as was documented by former recruits on Real Sports on HBO (LSU and Auburn were also paying players money). I have always respected Michigan because they immediately stop recruiting kids if there is any overtures of wanting money, but they may change now.

I don’t think we can trust Dekkers to start, dude wasn’t even all conference last year.
Not hard to put in clauses to cover that. And the school can always decline to enforce (say if a kid isnt that good, or changes mind about playing fb, etc)
It does have to be universal tho. Its the free agency leading to buying players causing more competitive problems than just paying guys.

I thought Freyler and McDonald looked pretty legit to close out last season. Strong in covering the whole field, tackling, etc. Freyler stuck out moreso.
You serious? He was a second year guy in the program that started getting more and more snaps as the season went on at an incredibly demanding position on a good defense.
People thinking it’s crazy that CM couldn’t get $ or that this isn’t a huge loss need to rewatch the Clemson game. The kid was making great tackles in space.
This is a big loss. CM can play.
