Court Storming

That’s the point. If they could have stopped it by now, they would have. I suppose you could put all students in the upper deck. That might stop the court storming, but would probably cause other problems.

What happens when drunk co-eds start falling from the upper deck and land on old blue haired rich ladies?

You don't have to stop it, you just have to manage it.
Exactly, all that is needed here is controlled chaos instead of complete chaos. We put a man on the moon, we can put a thousand students on a basketball court.

I do think if you storm the court when you were the favorite to win then your next opponent should get to start the game with 10 points or something like that.

I'll never condemn the student body (ie the 18-22 yo crowd ) from celebrating this way, but the guy shown in the photo on the ESPN article with his young daughter in one arm and dragging his bewildered slightly older son by the other maybe should have sat this one out.

It's very annoying that ISU made our student section in basketball and football worse in order to comply with whatever court storming rules the Big 12 has yet I feel like no other schools are making any changes and they're gonna ban field/court storming anyways across the board. So yay for that.

No it isn't.

Talk to one of their alumni for any amount of time.

You'll quickly find hating anything Duke related come naturally.
Do you wake up everyday resentful and say “who can rub me the wrong way today so I can hate them”

I didn't think the Duke fans were too bad out in Maui.

I expect nothing less from basketball god Jay Bilas. The guy is a ding dong
Very extreme.

Iowa State has figured out how to keep players safe during court storms after the Randy thing. Pretty sure if we can figure it out, any other university can as well. I'm no where near banning court storms, but there are ways to prevent things like this from happening in the future, and like usual, Iowa State is paving the way.

This whole thing is stupid. IT.IS.NOT.A.PROBLEM.

Can anyone tell me how many players have been injured in court storming incidents over the last 100 years?

I can't remember hardly anything at all before this Duke one the other day. CC's doesn't really count... she was 50% responsible for hers.... had she just walked off with her teammates she would have been fine. When you sprint all out in the opposite direction that hundreds of students are sprinting right at you... that spells disaster.

All these game announcers and analysts have been saying forever when these court storms happen that this is what makes college basketball so great... and that you don't see that kind of excitement in the NBA.... and that includes Jay Bilas. Now a Duke player gets hurt in a freak situation... and Bilas is furious and everyone needs arrested now!

These people can't have it both ways. The Duke students have probably stormed more courts over the years than anyone... but now it's shameful because a Duke player got hurt? Give me a break. Accidents happen.

I feel like it really came to a head in the big 12 after KSU stormed the court in 2015 and they ended up with this

After that the big 12 really made every program get their **** together on security plans to keep things safe during a court storm.

Are they storming the court at away games? I guess I don't remember Duke fans storming their home floor too often.
