Countertop Food Composter

The crows outside love my bread, meat scraps, bones and trimmings. Got the idea from watching one eating a frozen fast food hamburger on the road one day. They watch my property very closely. In the day time within 20 minutes they find it. Now thats composting.
Get chickens and throw the food scraps in their feed trough. They'll eat anything.

I've got a compost bin out behind the garage and the one ABECyguy linked (post 9) is on our kitchen counter. Coffee grounds, egg shells, and fruit/vegetable scraps. No protein. Take it out 2 or 3 times a week. Keep the lid on. We've never had a problem with bugs or odor.

Years ago I had a pest control guy tell me that for temporary holding in the kitchen (for a couple of days before taking it to the outdoor compost) that we should use a Tupperware with a snap lid (we used the kind you might put cereal into) and keep it in the fridge. If it’s in the fridge it doesn’t get smelly or attract bugs or rodents.
