Conference Prediction for ISU

Sure. We don't have someone who plays well enough consistently enough though for it to be an apples to apples comparison.

Monte is pretty consistent. Burton can get buckets. Yeah he had 29 points in 36 minutes vs Gonzaga but he had 21 points the game before that. He had 20 points in 18 minutes against Omaha

8-10 or 7-11. KU, WV, and Baylor could destroy us in each game. TCU is much improved. Monte isn't the scorer that I thought he could be. Zero post presence. We will see a ton of zone and just can't shoot great every game to win a lot.

I'm just hoping to get 10 wins, but I really don't think its going to happen with current personnel. Poor effort on defense, poor effort on moving without the ball in the half court. Our best post is a freshman, and Monte isn't what people were expecting. I could eat crow but I don't think so. This team needs a MAJOR attitude adjustment and even with that I think we lack the right players to remain competitive against the Baylors and KUs

Were #26 in AdjD in the country. Man if we start playing with real effort on defense watch out

Basketball is more than just offense

This is about where I'm at also, leaning toward 7-11.

8-10...
If Lard doesn't redshirt and plays...8-10
.
.
.in otherwords...redshirting Lard will be a good thing for the team's future and a very good thing for a kid trying to acclimate himself to university life.

Wait Lard could be eligible to play immediately?
There's another thread that speculates to just that. CSP is still going to redshirt him to keep another full year of eligibility...but apparently doesn't have to redshirt him if he chooses to play him instead starting in January.

My recent posts of prediction were tied to mred (game by game), if my focus was more where I think ISU falls in the conference pecking order, I'm a bit more positive. 10-8 makes more sense to me than 8-10 — just no evidence so far to suggest it with confidence.

For balance, I could look at results of most teams below the KU-BU-WV subset and be unimpressed with the resumes.

So is this just your optimistic post for the thread's purpose, or do you actually believe it? From what we've seen so far, it seems unlikely, but I guess that's why they play the games. I'm just trying to not let my mind wander as to what a bummer of a Selection Sunday it will be if we're not in the discussion. I do think, tho, that if we can finish above .500 in the conference, Prohm would make believers out of many doubters.
I actually believe this team can do it.

I'm shocked at how many people think ISU will be blown out by KU, Baylor and WVU. Take a deep breath everyone, teams improve.

Agree, we'll improve. But so will KU, Baylor, and WVU... its not like they'll regress.

I don't know why some people are down on Monte, saying he isn't playing how they thought he would. He's doing a exactly what he's done the last 3years.

He can score in the flow of the game, but he's never been a 1 on 1 scorer. Not sure why people were suddenly expecting that.
