Conference Prediction for ISU

Our lack of bigs down low will be what hurts us in league play. Seems like we give up a lot of second and third opportunity shots do to our lack of rebounding. I don't think we will be able to stop many teams with any size down low. Especially when we are playing those type of times every night from here on out.

I like that we have so many scoring threats from outside, but we don't have many options down low. So teams will make us live and die by the three. Which will be tough to put together a streak of wins by relying on the three ball.

Something just doesn't seem right with the team this year. Definitely missing an outspoken leader or go to guy like Niang. I'm hoping with Naz getting his stroke back that he will be that guy. He seemed to be a great motivator last year while on the bench last year.

Zags, Cinci, Miami, and Iowa are a fairly comparable to what we'll see in he Big 12, if not arguably a bit weaker. We went 1-3 in those games with 1 big W, 1 big L, and 2 close losses. At or a couple games under 0.500 seems fair.

We'll improve some, but so will everyone else. We play mostly SRs after all.

Agree, but isn't it strange that in the second half we actually competed and almost defeated a pretty solid and maybe the best down-low team we faced? (Gonzaga)

It's not just the fans either, anyone follow Travis Hines on Twitter? Go read the last 24 hours worth of his tweets for example.
I stopped following him. There is nothing wrong with following a non cyclone reporter, but his takes always seems so end of the world like. It's almost like he is fishing for reactions. Like his article on how Iowa State eked by Drake.

Yeah, that game gave me hope that we were the real deal. Then something went haywire. It's like they don't believe in themselves all of a sudden. It doesn't seem like they are having as much fun this year as they were last year.

Maybe they are going to be one of those teams that just plays down to their competition and will rise up against the big games and possibly win one or two that we shouldn't. I'm just not sure, but it seems like they just aren't very sure of themselves. Lack of confidence in the post play? I don't know.

Saying Texas is 'bad' is going to bite you in the butt later...... Just kidding, but seriously, they're pretty young and have played a tougher schedule. Smart will have them competitive, imo. Should be some interesting close games for most conference teams ( except for KU, Baylor, and WV probably ) until they play each other.

They are bad. Maybe next year they won't be.

Win one they shouldn't and lose 2 they shouldn't = 8 - 10, unless they lose the home opener to Tech

Naz, Morris, Thomas, and Burton have all played together before and Babb has been on the scout team. We have more returning faces this year than we do new pieces in our rotation.

Is the current Babb any relation to the one you guys had on the team 3-4 years ago?

If we play Young and he continues to make moderate improvement as he gains experience, I'm going with 9-9.
