Condit

Can anyone think of another team that doesn’t start their 2nd best player?

I would not start Conditt over Jacobson or Young at this stage. At least Jacobson and Young have a post presence on offense. We play our best when we go inside out. If Conditt doesn't start trying to get the ball inside so our offense goes inside out, when he is on the court our offense becomes stagnant with guards launching 3's

What??? How is it on Conditt that he isn’t fed the ball inside? That’s on the guards, and has been a ‘issue’, if you want to call it that, for about every post besides Niang. Lard and McKay rarely got the ball inside either. Young and Jacobson don’t get the ball down low that often.

I remember one year in particular that it was irritatingly obvious guards were intentionally not feeding the post. Solo would have a nice cut to the basket and be left standing there.. then the bricks got chucked.

There are a lot of stats that show how inefficient posting up is so we arent the only team that doesn't do it often. It just takes a lot of basketball iq to feed the post, receive the ball ect with out the other team stealing it, then other teams doubling and making the pass out difficult. But yes anyone thats played in the post know how infuriating it is to work super hard and not get the ball.

That little baby hook that Solo shoots from about 1/3rd of the way down in the paint is pretty darn deadly if I'm remembering right. I'd feed him and let him shoot it all night till they shut it down.

Someone has been watching too much Iowa HS basketball. Posting up your big guy on the block regularly doesn't work at this level of basketball. Conditt will get the majority of his points by running the floor, pick and roll, and getting offensive boards with the occasional mismatch post up.

Posting a guy up that isn’t like a 70% FG guy is a great way to stagnate an offense. It’s one thing if you know the guy is an automatic bucket when he gets to a certain spot. I don’t think Conditt is that guy right now.

Post ups can be used for more than just scoring. Most of the time at this level of basketball, teams are going to send a second man at him. If this happens it forces the defense to rotate, and kick outs lead to close outs which lead to dribble drives and points.

Any time you can make a defense scramble is a good thing. If a post entry causes this it helps the offense in more than just one way (of scoring off a post move).

When you have a guy that weighs all of 223 lbs, is a top-level rim-runner and sneakily great screener, and surround him with sub-replacement-level 3-point shooters, why wouldn’t you try to run post-ups through him, particularly going in to BigXII play against bigger, stronger players? What could go wrong?

I’m genuinely perplexed by this thread. If Halliburton’s not shooting the ball, I’d rather it be Conditt doing about anything over Nixon, Bolton, or Jacobson bricking a 3. We already know that doesn’t work.

Sure, Conditt/TH pick and roll is ideal, but after that getting the ball to George down low is the next best option we have.

I totally agree with the last 2 posts. That is why I started this thread. I am tired of watching Conditt running around the 3 point line or standing on the baseline with his hands by his side. We need him posting up and or flashing to the ball. Unfortunately the past 2 games he has not been a factor on offense. Hopefully that changes tomorrow as I think he can be important in conference play.

Lie back and think of Bobby Knight.
