Looks like our 2009 recruit is starting off well for Gulf Coast CC. I only live a few blocks from the GCCC campus and will get to a few games this year and report back....
AIKEN, S.C. - Marquez Gilstrap hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer and Gulf Coast rode that momentum to a 90-80 win over No. 21 Aiken Technical College in South Carolina. Gilstrap scored 17 of his team-high 24 points in the second half to get Gulf Coast's first win of the season over a nationally ranked opponent. Brad Reese scored 22 points, Gabriel Charley 15 and Mosley graduate Derrio Green 10. "The best thing I saw out of our guys was a fiery competitive nature that I haven't seen much out of them," Gulf Coast coach Jay Powell said. "They buckled down and tried to play defense and got loose balls. It's like they flipped the switch on."
