Like it or not, but it's the one marquee game that showcases the entire state, and the weather would actually be pretty decent for it. I love that we get Texas in the middle of November, but we risk having cold, terrible weather that would mute the turnout for an early morning cable talk show.

I'm so tired of this narrative. It is a five minute jog from my front door to the Welcome to Naperville sign. You would be amazed at the number of I-State decals on cars, I-State flags flying from porches. Kids around here like ISU. Daughter confirms it. Lots of her fellow students are taking visits, and are enrolling.
Basically, if you hate Iowa because of the Western Chicago Suburbs kids, then you also hate Iowa State.
Edit: you know what? I don't even know why I'm making this a thing. I wish work gave me more to do today, I must be really bored! Here you go. My saying 80% was wrong, it a little over 61%, but that does not change the fact the UI has a lot more suburban Chicago students that ISU.
For Iowa

I'd be all right with a defacto big12 title game spot on the line against Texas for gameday. Both of us could be either 8-1 as we both face Oklahoma before or 9-0(chugga chugga choo chooo)(or kool-aid)Iowa State pops up in here but not where you expect.

Post on HR regarding this:
Herbstreit just talked at length on ESPNU Radio about the possibility of Gameday at Ames for Iowa-ISU. Based on the conversation, my guess is they’ll be there provided both teams are undefeated.

Has this been confirmed by Uncle Randy yet?
He's probably trying to figure out how to call Kevin Costner to confirm.
How do you guys actually go over to the Iowa forums and not feel like your IQ has dropped below 50?
Not gonna lie, sometimes I go over there when I'm having a tough day and just need a pick me up. That will usually put the train back on the tracks
The concern would be the number of Iowa fans that travel to Ames to crash the Gameday site, not the amount of Iowa fans in the stadium.
I really like that part of the state, but it’s full of stereotypical “tavern hoks”
I don't go over there out of fear that me and my children who aren't old enough play sports could get beat up at any moment outside of a gas station in Ames, Carroll or Ankeny
