What kind of coffee maker do you have and what kind of coffee do you brew? If I’m getting something at a coffee shop, it’s typically an americano as I like espresso. My wife is a caramel latte type drinker. We have a coffee maker at home that does a 12 cup pot and a single k-cup serving that seems to be on our last legs and I’m thinking that there might be a good espresso and coffee maker option out there but don’t know what’s available. Any input would be appreciated!

This is the one we have and I love it. Make a double with steamed half milk half chocolate milk every morning. It’s my lazy version of a mocha.

Only thing I dislike is that when it is time for the cleaning cycle it does not let me skip it, which can be annoying if I am tight on time getting ready for work.

I’ve never heard of this before but Google has me interested in this… you have recommendations for a good quality grinder, beans and filter setup?

I currently have a Moccamaster drip brewer. I just upgraded via Black Friday sales from a Baratza Encore grinder to a Fellow Ode Gen 2. Night and day difference. Also grabbed a V60 pourover which I haven't had a chance to use yet. All in all, delicious so far.

They are not Keurig style. I had to use Amazon to get the refills. $.30 a cup for the Spanish coffee. Probably 2 oz espresso servings.

The most important components are the water, grinder, and beans. The grinder should be a conical burr steel type, such as a Timemore C2 ($55 on amazon). For beans, look at local nice coffee shops, not Starbucks. The filter can be a cheap V60 plastic filter, you’ll need paper V60 filters as well.

On our second cusinart grind and brew (honestly the first one was better). We are boring straight black coffee drinkers though.

Hard to go change course from a grind and brew type coffee maker.

Ninja for me as well. We have one in the house and one in our machine shed kitchen. Many settings range from a small single cup to a full craft. Tea, coffee over ice, cold brew, regular strength to specialty hot coffee where we add syrup and hot milk and use the units frother to make a latte.


My wife likes Dunkin regular and decaf. I will drink Dunkin too but my go to is Pikes place. I also drink a variety of Black Rifle coffee with Tactisquatch being my favorite from them.
I had SB grind a couple bags of their Holiday blend the other night when I was in town and I will drink a lot of that now through Christmas.

We drink a lot of coffee.

Chemex. It takes 10% more effort in the morning but tastes so much better than drip coffee. And the only way it’ll ever stop working is if you drop it on the floor.
