Coaching Search

TJ has not been offered the job, a few conspiracy theorists just like to claim world events of the past decade have been manipulated to make him the next coach. Just because it's rumored doesn't make it true.

Ok. But will he be offered?

0% chance that happens. He's making like 3 mil a year now.

How is it possible that Wichita St. can pay its basketball coach more than Iowa State? There is 0% chance they have more ticket revenue or TV revenue. Combined basketball related revenue for Iowa State must be multiples of what they make.

Regardless of what your sources are telling you, you can't blame people for looking at what they can see (there's plenty of evidence for it) and seeing that it all lines up. Its hardly a crazy theory (or anything like 'world events of the last decade... just Iowa events of the last 2 months), but you seem to have a big problem with people believing it. Your sources may be right, or they may not be (or they may have their own motivations for what message they'd like to be out there right now) but what people are seeing is perfectly rational.

Are you able to name the 4 coaches under consideration for the position?

One of these two former big 12 coaches would be a sneaky good hire.

I certainly understand why people could infer the circumstances to align according to that end, I just know for a fact it isn't quite as simple as it looks on the surface. I'm not saying some things couldn't have alternate meanings, but I know from as good of sources as one could possibly have that it isn't and hasn't been a narrow focused search.

I really hope you're right on that.

While I have no inside knowledge of the coaching search, what Jeremy says is what I experience in my company. People don't always know what is going on behind the scenes and try to fill in the gaps with only public information.

Thanks for the updates Jeremy...
I'll trust Pollard will do his proper vetting and make a choice he feels fit ISU culture the best, much like his CPR and CFH hires. Just want it to be for ISU fit, type of play, recruiting, and ambassador for ISU first and though money will factor hopefully it is down on the priority list.

Hornacek needs to be the top 5 options. If a whole bunch of efforts fail, look at experienced head coaches.

If 850 people say no, hire TJ and say that's the best we can do.

Please list the 850 viable candidates that you have ahead of Otzelberger.

Sweet! You've been talking to JP! We're good to go guys, no worries. :v_SPIN:

I have heard the conspiracies. Some of the louder voices here have an echo on other boards. Congrats Jeremy, your name is even mentioned in those conspiracies...... which are a little far fetched to even be believable.

Think JP needs to talk to our team, we owe them that and their goal is Houston! These guys are seasoned veterans as far as college players, and team chemistry, as well as team/coach chemistry is important for next year. We fans expect some trophies and a run into the tournament, we need to give our guys the tools to do it.

That said, JP needs the ability to bail for the future of the program if the choice turns sour (Bad game planning, poor recruiting, coaching etc after next year. Not saying interim label or short contract as that would be used against us in recruiting, just saying he needs to keep some money in the bank and options for a buyout, if necessary.

Think the players probably want Otz, so be it, lets go and win a national championship. But, if it doesn't work, JP better have Plan B available, with the ability to pull the plug. If it works, then forget about the Hoiburger, its the Otzenburger for life. Hope we are hoisting trophies next year!!
