I'm sure this has been done before but does anyone have a list of college/pro football coaches (head and assistants) with ISU connections?
Off the top of my head-
Johnny Majors
Earle Bruce
Jimmy Johnson
Pete Carroll
Dave McCartney :jimlad:
Tony Alford

I searched and couldn't find this so if its been done before, feel free to merge.
BTW - I'm on vacation this week and a bit bored!

We probably shouldn't claim him. He got fired from Upper Iowa last year for sucking and making enemies while sucking.

Mike Knoll got fired from every job for sucking and making enemies along the way.
I dont remember him ever a Iowa State though.I came into the program in 1986 and left in 1992 and he was never here.

Not doubting he could have been here for a year before I paid attention.....

Wow, this may be the worst record I've ever seen.

Mike Knoll was the head football coach at New Mexico State from 1986 to 1989. Despite coaching for four years, his career record was 4-40(.091). He ended his career on a 17 game losing streak in the 1988 and 1989 seasons. New Mexico State won 2 games in 1987, and lost 10 or more games in 1986, 1988, and 1989. In all four of his seasons, the Aggies had been outscored by 200 or more points.
He was fired as the head football coach at Upper Iowa University. He previously served as an assistant coach at Iowa State, Miami, Northwestern and Tulsa

I don't think he has been mentioned yet, but Rod Rust, former coach of the Patriots was at ISU as a player it looks like.

Larry Coyer served as ISU's D-Coordinator from 1979-82 and again from 1995-96. He is currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts.

Darrell Bevell, offensive coordinator for the Minn. Vikings, was ISU's QB Coach in the late '90s before he joined the Packers staff in 2000.
I think Bevell was a grad Asst.

I hate to mention him, but here goes..
Jim Criner, former ISU HC, later HC of the Scottish Claymores of the WLAF (or was that the WFL?)

arch steel-freshman football coach during clay stapelton years.

I didn't know he coached....I had only known him as an academic advisor for FB (and maybe the entire athletic department).
