Re: Coach Matt A

Can we STFU about all the former ISU players coming to coach? It is absurd.

I actually think Grayer would be a good assistant. He's getting some experience and could help recruit Michigan. Not at the top of the list but I could see it.

We hired Fred Hoiberg without much coaching experience and that worked out alright...

...not that I'm entirely advocating doing it again. We got really lucky. Tons of NBA and front office experience and a naturally cerebral guy helped.

I'd like to see either another Lutz/Sadler type (grizzled veteran to stabilize the team and work on the defense) or another age recruiter, particularly one oriented towards high-level talent.

It looks to me as if Fred's practically done recruiting high schoolers that much--might as well "take a look at them" first before they might transfer into you, right?

Re: Coach Matt A

Wow, this is a bit of an overreaction based on what we know at this time, which isn't much. Fred's been selling the national championships, too, and we don't know if Matt is for sure leaving, and if he does, we don't know how the Diallo thing is going to shake out. Should probably save your outrage until we have some more information.

Wasn't outrage it was my feeling burned. Matt following a player is Matt's tell that he was recruiting someone. Always has been. He followed a PG St Johns and Illinois are in a head to head battle for. A player that would significantly help land Diallo as a quality PG. I just felt it was in bad taste to do that before an announcement or actually leaving. Still do.

Re: Coach Matt A

Over-react much? Maybe he's following and in contact with Lovett to fill our back-up PG need. We did just have a PG leave, correct? Lovett, from what I have read, is a LONG way from qualifying, as he has not even taken ACT yet. So he actually makes more sense for us (sits/goes to JC for a year) than he would be for SJU if he's simply filling the "PG for Diallo" role. Diallo will almost likely be there one year.

We're suppose to wait until something actually happens (Matt leaves) before assuming everything is shady and everyone involved is shady and paid people to screw us.

What are you talking about? When did I suggest anything was shady or anyone paid anyone to screw us? I felt the Lovett follow and CWs signal made it pretty clear he was gone to anyone caring to pay attention. I was just saying I felt burned (fair or not). And I wish Matt wasn't starting his other job, clearly before leaving here (which I was right about, decision was made days ago followed Lovett Yesterday And announced resignation today. For the record, I don't jump off cliffs.

Re: Coach Matt A

it's his dream job and a chance to work with another NBA guy. If the NBA is his dream, and Fred isn't leaving soon, then this makes all the sense in the world.

This fan base really sucks sometimes.
Nah, we can be bummed by it. Nobody is ******. I wish he wouldn't have followed the kid before announcing. Thats what rubbed me the wrong way. Felt like he just moved on without much regard. He is a person I get it and I really like the guy. I never felt mad not so I sense anyone is, bummed, slightly burnt. When a guy pushes sunshine and then bolts for cloudy weather it make all the sunshine you bought more shallow. That is all. Not a big deal. I am more mad at me for believing everything he said. I am gullible when it comes to believing in the cyclones. no.need to overreact to our overreaction.

How do you know that he just "move on"? Like he said, it was really tough decision for him to choose home over his second home.

I don't blame him for going "home" and to work for another basketball legend. Older I get, more I realize how much "home" means to me. "Home" factor is bigger than some people realize.

Good luck to Matt. I appreciate everything he has done for his second home.

That's not a sustainable recruiting strategy. This team isn't as good as it is without some four-year guys to provide stability from year to year. Transfers are great but they can't be the only thing on the plate. A great meal has more than one component to it.

No regard, like he was changing jobs or something. That's what happens when you change jobs.

Well I hope Matt had a safe landing in NY and all is well.

Hey Adam as I told you the other day it was a great day for ISU basketball. Can you drop another nugget. I'm extremely happy with the way this has turned out. Huge upgrade.

Matt cares about one thing and that is himself and supporting his family. Nothing wrong with that. That is the bottom line and everything else he says is pixie dust and fairy tales. The talk about helping ISU with recruits is total BS and like most ilof his comments he is trying to appease the fans. Don't let the door hit your big *** on the way out.

Yes, I've got tons of little nuggets. Some of which I'm sure you are already aware of, such as you being a hack at golf.

Maybe I am just naive, but I think he really means that when he said he'll help. He knows how he got where he is now - FRED. He would never do anything to disrespect Fred.

Good, I was worried we were looking towards a "diamond in the rough" type of guy.
