*** @ Cincinnati Pregame Thread ***

Those of us worried about this game are just saying the team will have to be focused and play like we did Saturday and not like we did at Arkansas State. If that offense shows up it will be a dog fight and we will struggle to win, if its the offense that was efficient and hitting on all strides like Saturday we will be fine.
So far this season we have not fallen behind a couple of scores and had to play catchup, that and not turning over the ball which we have been great at not doing are the keys to a win in Cincinnati to me.

Jfc have you not noticed how much better we play in conference games no matter what happens in the preseason. It’s almost like there is an emphasis on the more important aspect of our schedule for as long as CMC has been here.

Honestly I would take it right now.

IMO once the injury reports come out and Cincy announces Corleone is out, and sharps see that Orange is playing, big movement probably in favor of the cyclones. Cyclones as an underdog could be free money
Sorry if I'm missing anything, has there been any update on the injuries. Or are we just going off Campbell saying nothing was too serious after the game?

I guess the general public thinks we are a joke, seeing it all over social media. And now we are road dogs against an unranked Cincinnati, apparently they are gearing for a rowdy crowd this weekend.

Haven’t seen anything along these lines unless you count some butt hurt Iowa fans. Almost everything I’ve seen is people thinking we’re right we ought to be ranked wise and even some believing we should be higher.

Don’t understand the worry here. We could be favored by a TD and still lose this football game.

Cincinnati is a solid team but being a 2.5 point favorite over a top-15 team is odd. I wonder if there is a bit of an overreaction to their KU victory.

Yeah. All of Gameday picked us to beat Arizona and the greatest football coach ever brought up how much he loves Rocco multiple times during the show.

I dont think the Ark St game should be a metric we use at all. All of us are underestimating the exhaustion this entire team felt, being that they hadnt had a bye post ireland, and had 2 huge rivalry games
I think it's fair to use every game as a metric/reference. Ya only get 12/13 of them. Every team has nuance and circumstances and issues going into every single game every single week. And many things can be true at once. I think we were absolutely very tired in that Arkansas State game.

I do think mobile QBs are a problem for our defense. I also think some of that is overblown, and some PTSD from having to play with LBs who were still beyond wet behind the ears last year. I think we are much more capable of taking care of a mobile guy now, and it's not as big a concern as some believe it is.

Having Willich back helped. Having McDonough back also helps with containment. We struggled with QB contain when he went out against Ark St.

There were lots of concerns with Fifita running, but he wasn't a huge running threat. Rocco is more of a runner than Fifita.

Cincy's QB is much more of a runner, which will be a much more difficult test.

100%. The simple take in this game is Cincy has a highly ranked offense and just beat a solid KU team on the road and ISU doesn't have a win against a good team on the road. That's it. So Cincy becomes the sexy pick to beat a ranked team. Its fine. Go prove em wrong.

This team should come out fired up: teams lose ranked above and no rank increase, Vegas piling on, sports media ignoring B12 and ranking ACC as better, beating Miami in Bowl ignored. I expect a chip on the shoulder, if they are flat and give a C game I’ll be surprised.

While it was fun to beat Miami and yeah we can argue Ward played a half.....it was a glorified exhibition. Also, Miami increased their talent overall in the off season.

We have played two conference games one in Ireland a month ago, and then this past weekend in. I get we are excited about the win over Arizona, but let's not put ourselves in the playoffs or championship game yet. Its very possible Cincinnati is the best team we have played yet, and its one the road. They gave us fits last year at home and we have people thinking this is going to be a we show up and win type of game.

Who’s overly confident? I’m not really seeing it. I think most people are just saying let’s not look at public betting the line down as some sort of indicator that we’re a lock to lose the game.

Meh, It's also Rocctober. I don't think he knows how to not cook for the next month. Buckle up and ride the flow.

No one is saying we are a lock to lose the game, but we do seem to have a lot of people thinking this is a sure win on Saturday.
I think we are both probably being hyperbolic. I think fans having confidence in the team is a good thing.

Not really. I wouldn't read much into the whole 'top 15 rating'. Honestly, there isn't a huge amount that separates the ~10-40 best teams in CFB right now. Hell, Cincinnati is only one touchdown away from being top 20 and ISU is one FG away from being barely in the top 25.

This won't be the last game this year where ISU isn't favored. Parity is real right now. We've come out on top in close games recently, and that's why we're ranked. Doesn't mean there is much separating ISU from other P4 teams from a power rating standpoint.

It's always been that way since time immemorial.

There's 1-3 elite teams that stand head and shoulders above, and then ~20-30 very good teams that are all within maybe a touchdown of each other.

I'm not sure who the elites are this year. Probably Ohio St and Oregon, and maybe Miami?
