reality of it is, we should be sittin' at 6-3 with a 3 game losing streak.

Wanna go back further? Should we of won @iowa?

What if we were sittin' here at 5-4? OOF.

I know, all "What if" scenarios, but fun to think about.. sorta.
Yep we are closer to 5-4 than 8-1/9-0.

This place would be insane if we were 5-4.

We do what we do. Other teams know that and scheme around it. We don't really scheme for the opponent, we just do what we do.

CMC game strategy is to out-execute the opponent. That's not a bad strategy. But I do wish they also would add some "out-smart" the opponent, because I don't ever see that - except AGAINST ISU.
I get what you're saying, but it's not always that simple, and they often go hand in hand. For example, we sent a corner blitz at Daniels last week, which are relatively rare in today's game and especially in our system. We used to send Anthony Johnson a lot because he was a gifted open field tackler, but we hadn't done it more than once this season. But our backup safety messed up his assignment and left a receiver wide open for a TD on 3rd down. Instead of forcing a FG and stopping the bleeding, things got a lot more dire. I think we missed Orange and Jones on the DL. We always talk about our linebackers, but we now have significant injuries on the DL in Orange, Jones, and Snyder. Singleton and Petersen are doing a lot of heavy lifting.

That’s the question, Brahmer and any of the LBs.
My guts says Brahmer is done for the year. No inside info. Trying to read between the lines from CW and Blum pod, Brezina will play but probably isn't 100% the rest of the year. They are great stories, but the small town Iowa LB core has been struggling. A lot of times against RBs like Boyd and Neal, they are being baited by the hesitation and hit the same gap against the run. We have to be more disciplined and trust the guys on the field.

This game comes down to who ISU can put on the field. The injuries are just crazy on the defensive side of the ball. If they can get 3 to 4 guys back there and Bramer back I like their chances. If they can't the offense is going to have to be way more aggressive in the passing game, and not kick any FGs unless it's the end of the game or the half. Going to need 40 points if the defense plays like it has the last couple games. Not blaming them, they are doing all they can with what is left.

Cinn does have a home run guy. I think his name is pryor. Portaled in from Ohio State and has real wheels. beware. he has gone for many explosive plays this year. If he gets any space he's gone.

Starting?! He's always been made of glass. He plays extremely aggressive, and doesn't have the frame to make that many hits. He's a great player, just something we have to deal with unfortunately. Playing safety in this system is not for the faint of heart.
Him and Freyler are always banged up because of their play style. Verdon had a club on in the Tech game and more than likely makes that int in the endzone if he didn't have it.

I also hate that Berzina goes out there for a few plays and never plays again. If he's injured, just keep him out at this point.

Yep we are closer to 5-4 than 8-1/9-0.

This place would be insane if we were 5-4.
It’s always insane - it just ebbs and flows between the three major posters. The piss and moaners, the pragmatic and the sunshine pumpers. Depending upon how the season is going, the posts are mostly dominated by the first and third groups.

When the team was 7-0, there were tons of posts about the playoffs and stats around being favored in all the remaining games. After the Cyclones come back to earth, it’s all about CMC failing this way and that way.

Agreed. The mood swings are incredible. At 7-0 CMC was a coach of the year candidate and 7-2 we have people debating what his future should be.

What’s the saying? Nothing in life is as good as it seems or as bad at it seems?

I'm pretty upset with CMC, but anybody saying he should go is delusional. CMC is the best coach this program could possibly field. If CMC leaves then going back to 4-6 win seasons will become the norm again.

you need colo. to lose a game, and WVU not to win out.
If Utah beats Colorado and West Virginia wins out (Baylor, UCF, Texas Tech), look what the Big 12 Championship would be pic.twitter.com/x9FrzvpoYd

The sad thing is, if WVU wins the big 12 with 4 losses, the big 12 will be shut out of the CFP.

I disagree. No team could put up with the amount of injuries we had last week. It's frankly insane. But that's just luck. Bad injury year, it happens. This team went 7-0 because they are good. If they can adjust to new personnel, or get some injured players back, they'll be back to form.

Sure, there's been coaching mistakes, execution mistakes. But playing walk-on LBs and backup DLs and playing 1/2 hour secondary while injured is not a recipe to win. But it's what we've got to deal with.
Yeah with the amount of injuries we've had on defense you have to have a massive talent differential above your competition to go undefeated. And we obviously do not have that
