Chris Allen?

While true, he's the one on the team who most consistently takes bad shots. Tell me how many other players on our team will take a shot early in the shot clock without even being open, and not passing it OR shooting crap that's completely off balanced.

I could live with Allen's bad shooting if he actually shot most of his shots while squaring up to the hoop.

He reminds me of Kobe Bryant with a middle euro league skill set.

I agree but the whole team tries to be the hero when things are going bad. They get out of what they are suppose to do. If they would just slow down just a bit things would be better. This team is so good when they get open and pass the ball around. They suck when they stand there and forget how to pass. The guy that is the key ball handler is always going to look the worse when his team mates are not getting open. Yes Allen does stupid **** but the problem is a team problem.

Yes, the team plays poorly in desperation, however we are much better as a team today than we were a month ago. Honestly, even when we were up, Allen would take these shots even as Taylor was heating up.

I agree, it's a team thing, but a lot of the team is playing much more as a TEAM. Allen has his spurts, then as you said, tries to be a hero or something and just reverts back.

How I see it is that he's trying to make it to the NBA, and he thinks if he scores it'll be the only way he'll be going. That is honestly how I see why he plays the way he does 75% of the time. He needs to stop rushing the game, because he has a ton of potential, but he just rushes way too much.

I disagree on the potential thing. Hes never been anywhere near the best player on his team and he isnt a good shooter or pg. He is a dime a dozen type player in college basketball.

Well, potential I should say it's not "pro potential" but he has potential to be a better player. What I mean is that he rushes his ****, and is a big reason why he misses so much. He isn't Kobe Bryant, where Kobe can make all that ridiculous ****. If Allen squared up more, passed it around more often, etc, he'd look like a better ball player.

All I see from Allen is him rushing. Rush, rush, rush. He needs to settle down and let the game come to him naturally.

Both Allen(5-15) and Babb(0-8) tanked us, along with Ejim shooting 3-10. That could be some of the least productive starting guard/smallforward play in the big 12.

that is ridiculous, allens shot selection isnt the greatest, and babb was just off today, babb does so much more than score points, on the defensive end his guy never scores. on the offensive end he sets solid screens and is always where he is supposed to be. babb did take a couple of questionable shots today, but those were the first ones ive seen this year out of him. Ejim plays hard, he just seems undersized to be guarding the guys that hes guarding on the defensive end. It would be nice if we could put railey in to guard their bigs but he is a waste of space.

Look, I realize that Allen is playing out of position, and with that I will give him a little bit of leeway.......but.........

He (and the coaches) have to realize that he is not the shooting guard now. His job is to distribute the ball, drive if he has an open lane and kick it out or finish the drive and get fouled.

In the four Big 12 games.......he ranks last on the team in field goal percentage (and 2nd to last in all games).....so he is not a "great" shooter.....at least not from the PG position. Also.....from the PG position on Saturday......he had ZERO assists. Now, how do you expect to win in the Big 12 if your point guard gets no assists? Again.....I don't blame Allen for that except that he needs to adjust to the position and realize what is expected from him. Either he is not being told that, or it is not sinking in, because to me.....he is not playing like a point guard at all.

In the 4 Big 12 games, he is 3rd on the team in average assists per game at 1.8. Can you imagine what would have been said about DG last year if he was third on the team in assists?

I blame the coaching staff for not bringing in a point guard. It would have probably been best to get one from the JC ranks. They should have realized that Tavon was not going to be the PG this year once his high school coach moved him to the 2 at the start of his last season.

I think Chris has to adjust, and realize what is needed from him, for this team, in the position of PG. His mindset has to change a bit......or I think this team will struggle a lot in this league.

CA has some issues yes. But it seems when he forces shots the rest of the team isnt moving or getting open, thus ball movement is lacking. When this team runs an offense like it should be ran, pass the ball around, good things happen. When they stand around and wait for someone to make a play someone has to force a shot.

I thought for sure Chris Allen would be in CW's three down. I mean he shot 5 for 15 from the field and Taylor scorched him.

The end of the first half yesterday was a prime example that Chris Allen has no idea what he's doing, or should be doing.

We are holding the ball for the last shot of the first half, and Allen launches a 3 with 16 secs or something like that on the clock? He misses, and KU takes it down and misses an easy shot luckily for us.

I didn't get to see the game or any replays but is sounds like there were a couple positives to take away. It's obvious that we have a few things to work on but at some point there needs to be a leader on the floor that can keep the offensive flow moving and not forcing shots. Maybe this is royce maybe not but based on production it should be. Based on the register article it sounds like these close losses to ranked teams is starting to eat at the players. This hopefully will light a fire under the players ad put together a 6-7 game winning streak. Keep getting better cyclones.
