Child Stars

I know these people and have to be in close proximity to them.....and cannot be relativistic.
Child actors/stage parents are not worth much. I love when they seek sympathy or martyrdom. Princess Meghan is basically one of these people. This is always good:

Screech was doing a boning tour a while back. Word is he is quite the "woodsman".
I read somewhere that he used a stunt c#ck in that porn that he made and that is was a lame attempt to resurrect his career.

I guess his ex-wife was a total beotch and was causing a lot of problems with comedy clubs that he would perform at. Clubs stopped booking him because of her.

My brother has hung out with him a few times and said that he's actually a pretty cool guy. I always figured he was a douche so who knows.

A stunt one? Was there dangerous actions that it was performing so the true one didn’t get hurt?

Had a friend in MKE who saw him out once and drunkingly called out something like 'Hey you're Screech!'. Guess he didn't like that too much. Which makes sense, but it's not like people aren't going to recognize you.

Too bad you can’t keep them all clean and innocent like Lindsey Lohan.

Jail photo holds up.

Hopefully the arrest is a wake up for him. Sometimes it takes that forced sobriety to really get life turned around. As someone who works with addicts and mental health, I feel so sorry for him. Like any of us, when you struggle with something it can feel impossible to dig yourself out of that hole.

So I take it you're not recommending the the 30 day of meth weight loss program?

This is, I think, his 3rd arrest in the last few years, so unfortunately he may not have found that rock bottom yet. I hope those closest to him finally give him the tough love and support he needs to get clean.

Man, and I just happened to watch Heavyweights and The Mighty Ducks with the kids this last weekend.

Those in the drug world refer to it as the Jenny Crank diet. My thing with addictions is that we all have them. It's just a matter of if your addiction is socially acceptable or not. It's why I wish drugs were decriminalized.

The punitive treat them like criminal pieces of **** method hasn’t worked yet but the tide will turn if we stay the course I just know it! Definitely need to change how we deal with addiction in this country but I don’t see it happening. Too much money to be made locking up people with a disease instead of actually trying to help them get better.

Yup. There are time where I wish people who have no heart for these individuals struggling with addiction would do my job. Some of the stories of why they struggle with what they do make so much sense. I hear people say they just need to work hard. It's not easy to work hard when you haven't been taught or shown how to.

It’s hard enough and the current system only makes it harder. I read a book that really made a lot of sense to me on the subject. Instead of being treated like criminals which will only make addicts do criminal stuff and stay in the cycle of addiction, we should encourage and help them get acclimated into society. Being a positive and contributing member of society will lessen the urge to use over time.

Can’t remember for sure but I want to say there was a rehab program in Portugal the book talked about. There are clinics where doctors provide drugs and monitor addicts to make sure they’re safe. Most people would call this enabling and dismiss it as a ridiculous idea but actually has the opposite effect you would expect. As addicts became more and more involved in society and had more positive things going for them, they showed up at the clinic less and less until they stopped using completely.

The book is Chasing the Scream by Johann Hari and I highly recommend it if anybody is interested.

It's Portugal. Also, here is a Ted Talk by him on addiction.

I've seen a lot of this in action. I usually tell my clients to get involved in AA and NA and focus on getting involved with the people that go to those meetings. Most tell me they don't like meetings, I tell them to focus on building good supports where they don't need the drug to survive. All of us just want to feel like we fit in. That's the biggest key I've learned with addiction, allow individuals to find a good group of people that they can gel with.
