I'm skimming the protocol, I doubt I can fully analyze nuts-and-bolts. Introductory portion has a lot of vague stuff (I'll get to that later if time allows).

Among guidelines regarding committee membership and selection discussions:

• Committee members associated with any team under consideration during the selection process will be required to recuse themselves from any deliberations associated with that team

So that's good. But apparently it doesn't disqualify a member's association with a specific conference.

It's possible the protocol specifies who is able to serve on the committee, but if so, I haven't gotten that far yet.

I read this yesterday too. It does not state how members are selected to the committee, but it does go into the ranking process. There is still a ton of vagueness about how they rank the teams and what they look at. They need to have a structured way of looking at a team (ex. 1. record 2.head-to-head 3. SOS, so on and so forth) It leaves a lot of room for the "eye test" and similar bs qualifications
