Canker Sores

Alum does hurt pretty badly, but it works pretty well. It makes them look a little weird, though.

I've had pretty good luck with an OTC medicine called Glyoxide. It's more of an oral rinse than anything else, but if you apply it directly to the canker sore, it will foam up and clean it really well. Just don't swallow it - it tastes awful.

I've had decent success with the Glyoxide too. Mine seem to be caused by toothpaste. During an outbreak, i often just brush with baking soda.

Like the OP i get these things all the time too. There are time when I will have up to 3 or so in different spots in my mouth. Seems like I would almost be over one, and another one would pop up out of nowhere. If they are caused by stress, it not fail because when I have one, the pain from it usually stresses me out, therefore pushing on the never-ending cycle.

I am glad that I read this thread because I have 2 of them in my mouth.. on the side of my tongue and sort of on the roof of my mouth. They ******* hurt!

I don't think there is much you can do to make the skin tissue heal faster. (although you can make it worse)

rinse as advises with those solutions and use a oragel as needed to get through the pain.

I have had canker sores forever. Extremely painful, when I have them I stay away from sugar, acidic foods, and hot(both temp and spiciness)foods. This helps them heal faster. Also, my Dentist Dr. Foy told me that a chemical in toothpaste laurel sulfate I believe causes them. Switched to Dr. Toms Natural and it has helped. Tastes odd at first but worth it. I have heArd salt, vitamin e and lots of other cures but none ever worked for me.

Sorry if this is disjointed, hope it helps.

They say,"An ounce of prevention is worth of pond of cure"...

so don't lick stripper poles.

But both the saltwater or peroxide and water are good remedies in my experience.

Is that a saltwater pond?
