Can the winning team be butt hurt?

The players on the KU bench were way more animated than normal. Self was clearly more satisfied with himself than a typical win. The way they tried to downplay this game beforehand, but then go all crazy with the win, I'm pretty sure this win meant more to them than most wins. They needed this win to feed their supposed superiority complex.

Wow, what an emerging rivalry. According to
social media posts, Iowa State fans are
racists and KU fans are perverts lusting for
young boys' bodily fluids...not sure I wanna
start a thread looking to name the rivalry.

I enjoy viewing the opposition's board when we lose,
and I was surprised at what I saw over at the Phog
message board.
I can't remember ever seeing as many post game threads that focus
on slamming the losers as much as I've seen there.
The top 2 volume threads are "F"-ISU type threads, "we should of dunked to
close the game" statements etc. I think those 2 previous overtime
games must of scared them up a bit. KU is a classic program with
a basketball tradition to be proud of.......it would be disappointing if the
fan base couldn't match it.

i think many of us lack perspective. The vocal portion of our fanbase has done nothing but whine about the long-standing (and imaginary) conspiracy to keep ISU down and protect the KU program. We as a fanbase have not been classy, so accept it like the shallow men and women we are and let them have their moment - that has been going on for over a decade.

As for their fans and Self suddenly scared of ISU - whatever. KU has had bigger challenges from other B12 programs and for us to sit here and say Self is frightened of ISU sitting in the 5 hole with a roster full of athletes that don't even get noticed by a program of KUs stature is goofy at best.

KU is 15 of the last 16 against us. I'm positive there are more than a few programs in our league that have bested that threatening history of ISU domination.

Be a fan but try and be realistic. Our program is on the rise but to say we're KU-worthy shows how ignorant a "fan" can be.

Looking forward to an 11 seed and few wins next week...

Personally, I'd rather have a solo cup
or towel tossed my way than to have
multiple KU fans lusting for the taste
of my son's tears.
But hey, that's just me

Lucky thing none of our classy fans had D batteries. Of course OUR fans are classier than that. Because that's what we keep telling ourselves.

And when the nation tunes in to see ISU FINALLY set the record straight on our KU domination....

We see the true depth and wealth and athleticism and status of the truly GREAT program lead by one of the best college coaches to ever grace the hardwood.

But yeah - I can see the fear in their eyes...

Love your school, cheer your team, but try and keep it in real-world....

I think a lot of the reasoning behind the sudden animosity is that we have a coach with the potential to rival Self's abilities. Fred's not quite there yet, but he is learning fast and is already the second best coach in the conference, at this point. A quick look around at the other coaches in the Big 12 and there isn't really anyone else that can pull out a surprise like Fred and Self can. KU fans know that we aren't there yet, but with a few more years of depth building and player development, it's likely that we will be direct challengers to KU's claim.

But in our misery, not Missoury, let us have the sportsmanship to say their work on the offensive glass was likely the difference in the game last night. I realize any game we have that many turnovers, shoot that poorly from both three and maybe even more importantly the free throw line, and get beat on the boards, we are going to lose. I am Clone to the Bone but recognize we were beat by superior length last night.

Wow. Nice back stab. Flushing them out ... For sure!

Agreed. I thought Self picked up on the volleyball style rebounding that OU pulled off against us and it worked. They were getting some luck and hands where they shouldn't have been.

Kinda thin Kruger has proven he is a top-flight coach based on his results everywhere he's been. I think this league has great coaches and the ability to attract and retain great coaches and in a few years I want the nation to say CFH is not a rising young coaching star but has actually done it at the highest level.

KU fans are the most self absorbed delusional downright INSECURE that I have ever seen.

You better believe their scared.....2-death......of being dethroned......

.....Wow SpokaneCy, its really not sanitary
to put words in other people's mouths.
Didn't see anyone saying we were a top team
or likely to be next year. But considering
Fred's short tenure and our progress, it is realistic
that we will be able to compete consistently vs Kansas
Caliber teams soon.
Why so grumpy? Ohhhh, got it.
Well lighten up fella, maybe try a little fiber in the diet.
Or head down to the corner bar and order a
vodka/stool softener, it'll brighten your day

I take my fiber daily but think you've forgotten your perspective and reality pill. I want my program to be on the same plane as KU and maybe, MAYBE that can happen after more years of finding talent, developing talent, and winning games for real rather than in our heads. But for me to give a second's worth of consideration that we are now, or soon WILL, challenge KU for league dominance makes giggle.

Great for the younsters to have that outsized heaping of hope though! Keep it rosy Spanx!
