Caleb Bacon is coming back

Very happy he's coming back - I do think this LB group was probably our weakest positional group, so hopefully we can find 1-2 more to up the competition.

I was really down on the LB's up until about 2/3's of the season was over. Then they started to play well, especially against the run. My biggest area of improvement for them is getting their pass drops deep enough. There were numerous passes completed over them because they didn't get their pass drop depth.

There seemed to be a lot of thinking happening. In sports, you can’t think much, you just do. A thinking player is a hesitant player.

Is there confirmation from the NCAA that he’s being allowed another year? He’d have to apply for a medical hardship waiver, and I’m kind of surprised it would be issued that quickly.

I don't know about waivers but he's only played in three seasons, seems like a no-brainer he could play a 4th.

He had red shirted and his injury year would have been the medical year so maybe he ended up only gray shirting his first year instead of a redshirt?

His roster entry says redshirted in ‘21. When COR answered the question though, it was like he had a RS available and it was automatic.

Maybe we’re all missing something. We’ll see.

And apparently, Daniel Jackson has to wait for the Medical Hardship to be approved.

Does this make sense?

2021 - Redshirt
2022 - Roster
2023 - Roster
2024 - Injured first game
2025 - Roster
2026 - Roster

The medical redshirt is available for 2024 even though the eligibility redshirt was used earlier. In this way Caleb does get four years to play, including next season.

Only if a medical hardship waiver gets approved by the NCAA. Every player is given the opportunity for one redshirt, which he already used. He has a great chance to get one approved based on how little he played last year, but it isn’t automatic and can only be requested after he’s exhausted his current eligibility.

Medical Hardship.

Medical redshirts are no longer a thing, though you can redshirt for medical reasons. Hardships have to be applied for and reviewed…after the season.
