Caleb Bacon injury

Bruns said he was pleased with how the OL played, improved over last year. I'm no expert on such matters so I'll take his word for it. The fact that we played seven guys there presumably means we have some depth, seven guys the coaches are confident in even with a couple guys out.

Sorry, I've only skimmed this thread and others but I'm trying to get a handle on who's hurt. What expected contributors either missed the first game or got hurt?
Bacon
Willich
Travis
McLaughlin
Brezina
Others?

I don't have confidence in Sadowski at this point to feel like he will be a solid contributor. He started almost all of last season and was not productive at all. After Campbell brought up his growth in the offseason, I thought it was more of the same on Saturday. He looks the part physically, but his instincts are not there.

The story I heard on TJ was he essentially played a safety role most of the time and that's why he dropped. That's not what I saw when watching him but I'm not an NFL scout.

His 40 time did not help either. it’s hard to play corner in the NFL if you run a 4.6, when the guys youre defending run 4.3’s

Almost always our players lose draft stock in the combine. We have good players but not freakish athletes like the NFL wants. Breece is one exception.

I was always surprised Hakeem Butler didn't go higher. Maybe he was less freaky than I gave him credit for.

NFL teams don't value receivers with drop issues. Lazard has had issues with drops and he didn't end up being drafted. Allen did get that big contract but the drop issues remain to the point where he wasn't on the game roster for a couple of games last season.

Nor should they. I was shocked when Lazard got his deal for the Jets and got a lot of "dumbs" for mentioning he was overpaid. Happy for him but not a great move for the Jets.

Hakeem isn't going to blow past anybody off the line of scrimmage. He's fast once he hits his stride but NFL is about timing routes and if you're not winning those you're never going to play.
