Fine, I'll do it.
The Cafe is SUPER overrated.

The internet has enabled too many people, or in this case one person, to share terrible opinions, it needs to be regulated.I also think new people need to know Great Plains is not a typical pizza experience. It's really not "pizza". It's more like if pizza got it on with a gormet fresh bread and honey stunk in every once in awhile as a fluffer.
I've noticed that the only people who recommend Hickory Park don't live in Ames. Nobody who lives in Ames even mentions Hickory Park to people who ask what the best places to eat in town are.Do NOT go to Hickory Park. Might as well tell someone who's never been to Ames to go to Applebees.
Overall best choice: The Cafe
Like the Cafe but more upscale: Aunt Maudes
Pizza: Great Plains
On Campus: Cafe Beaudelaire
Pizza on campus: Pizza Pit
BBQ: Watcha Smokin (in Luther)
BBQ without leaving Ames: Cornbred
Burgers: Flight (in Huxley)
Breakfast/brunch: Provisions Lot F
Great list. Perfect.Do NOT go to Hickory Park. Might as well tell someone who's never been to Ames to go to Applebees.

The Spice is very good Thai in the downtown/Main Street areaAll of that sounds great, and not to be a foodie, but does Ames have ethnic food, outside of perhaps Mexican? Indian, good Chinese or Japanese?
If not the recommendations sound great.
Hickory Park is a good place if you are taking a family, but the BBQ is very below average.I've noticed that the only people who recommend Hickory Park don't live in Ames. Nobody who lives in Ames even mentions Hickory Park to people who ask what the best places to eat in town are.
I go to Hickory Park about once a year and it’s good for what it is, but it’s certainly not on the list of best restaurants in Ames. It’s not what it was 30 years ago, although there’s also just more options now.I've noticed that the only people who recommend Hickory Park don't live in Ames. Decently priced and the kids like the burgers and sundaes. You don't go there for good BBQ.
Saucy Southerner with fries was like 5 bucks back in the day. Hard to beat. It’s not nearly as cheap as it used to be. That was always the big draw for me.
buddy, we're talking about food hereGoing to be hard to win unless Rocco turns into prime Tom Brady... feel bad for him because he really has to win the entire game by himself (with the O Line as well, which has actually been quite good). No help from the defense, special teams, or his own receivers or tight ends lol.

Don't get me wrong, I'll throw down a saucy southerner every now and then. I just find it funny that whenever someone online asks for Ames restaurant recommendations, you get a bunch of non-Ames people jumping the bit to yell "You HAVE to go to Hickory Park, it's the best!!!"I go to Hickory Park about once a year and it’s good for what it is, but it’s certainly not on the list of best restaurants in Ames. Well it's not like you're from Lawrence! My family is originally from Topeka/KC, but don't hold that against me.
Mexican: love El Azteca (north or south, i like north better), service can't be beat, and the food is really good, and FASTAll of that sounds great, and not to be a foodie, but does Ames have ethnic food, outside of perhaps Mexican? Indian, good Chinese or Japanese?
