Bud Light likes Iowa State?

Just came back from the Johnston Hy-Vee. They had just 2 cases of this stuff left then one of the store managers say it in my cart and tried to joke "you want one of the Hawkeye ones as a gag gift?" Told him no thanks but wish he had more of the ISU colors. He said the Bud guy had just filled it full this morning! Went in back and brought a 2 wheeler of them so I took 2 more. He said every store only got a limited ammount of them and they were already on their last pallet. So yeah, get them while you can folks!

these people who are complaining about this are the kind that just want to complain about something to hear their own voice. Bud is being way more cooperative than I think they should. Nobody can tell them what color to make their cans.. I mean, their aim is clear. Still, they aren't using logos or names and they arent marketing it to underage drinkers so they are not at any sort of fault here.

The rumor of Saturday being the last day for distributors to sell to stores the Cardinal and Gold bud light fan cans was true. Just talked to a distributor at the Kum and Go on Welch, he was filling up coolers with normal bud light cans and I asked and he said they can't sell them anymore anywhere. I'm glad my friends and I stocked up for gamedays.

It’s amazing that we’ll buy anything with a “color scheme” we like even though what’s inside is what counts. Since becoming a home brewer (craft) I can’t stand what our domestic brewers call beer. But I have to admit, I have a few cases of the stuff at home for tailgating. So I’ll take my place in line and like what I’m told to like…..for the good of the tailgate.

Sounds like you should slap some cardinal and gold stickers on a bottle and peddle your wares on Saturdays. It's the best of both worlds!!

I bought a couple of cases today at the Dahls in Clive/Waukee...they had a several left.

Dan Patrick mentioned the cans and specifically Iowa State the other day on his radio show...

I suppose any school with red & white colors could make a stink about the colors Budweiser uses.

Here is a quote from a Bud rep in the DM Rag...

"Certain cans are not being made available in communities where organizations asked us not to offer them," Clark said in a prepared statement.

So I wonder when he says "communities" is he saying that they are pulling the cans from the college towns (Ames & IC) or will they be pulling all of the ISU/Iowa cans.

I'm all for protecting trademarks and licenses, but this is ridiculous! ISU doesn't not have any rights to those colors.

The universities are doing this under the pretense that they think this promotion is targeting underage drinkers. Let's be honest, the color of the cans isn't going to change the fact that underage drinkers are going to go out and drink. The schools are just ****** because they weren't in on it and they're not getting a share of the money.

I agree with one of the comments somebody posted on the article. Both schools sign off on allowing their logos and names on a multitude of alcohol related items like mugs, shot glasses, coozies, etc. This isn't about the underage drinking, this is about the schools not being able to collect royalties over colors. Great marketing plan by Bud, too bad it's over so quickly. Better scoop up what you can before they get pulled. I already stocked up on a few cases to save for Saturdays.

This.

Just glad that I stocked up on 4 cases of these now. Will have to decide just how much I want to use of it right away because def. want some left to use for the Iowa and KSU games. At least 1 unopened can is going with the ISU collection stuff too since these definitely will become collectors items some day.

I'm glad I got a case for my birthday! I was hoping to grab more, but doesn't look like that will happen unless I get in the Ames area this weekend...
