Bubu Palo appreciation thread

Gibson has been playing better on d and rebounding much better. He will be a big part of the teams success this year and in the future. I've been guilty of it in the past but I cannot understand ruining a good thread about being happy for bubu w/ this bs.

Enough with the Gibson bashing. He's in a bit of a SO slump but he's still a valuable player for us and can still improve.

Also, I don't think KL had a bad game. He and Bubu were complimentary with each other

I was thinking throughout the game, wow Bubu is playing out of his mind. He had a stretch with a couple steals and went end to end witht he ball, got a couple hustle plays. He makes smart plays and really handles the offensive. Nice job Bubu good to see you in the flow.

"Solid" is the best word to describe Bubu Palo IMO. And he was "solid" last year too.

I never understood the Bubu haters on here that didn't even think it was a big deal at all that Bubu was able to come back this year. I knew he would never start over KL, but I KNEW he was going to provide very solid minutes for us that we needed.

I think we will see Bubu on the court a LOT in close games at the end where we have a small lead. His defense is very valuable, and he's easily the guy I want the most on the FT line too.

Don't even get me started on that.
He doesn't bend his knees at all and stays flat footed, and puts no arch on the ball. RW was a better FT shooter than Gibson.

by what measure? Gibson is right at 57% from the line for his career. Royce was below 50.

Gibson has HORRIBLE FT shooting form. I would think Fred would work a lot on fixing that, but a coach can only make suggestions, the player has to implement them.

But please let's not get off topic here.... this thread is about how good Bubu has been for us since coming back.

By the fact that in Gibson's last 3 or so games he is like 0-10.

4 makes out of his last 10. 8 of his last 15.
He's not a great FT shooter, but to say he's worse than Royce holds no water.

It really helps having a guard that can penetrate, draw contact and get to the free throw line. He was out of control a couple of times and got bailed out by a foul, but I'll take it. I thought all around everyone played well outside of the 3s not falling. Seeing lucious and bubu on the floor together may be a sign of why hoiberg is recruiting guards so heavy.

I don't think he played out of control at all yesterday. On the drives to the hoop he was under control until he got body checked and ping ponged amongst the bigs.

It's arguable.
Through 8 games in Big 12 play last season, RW was 41.67% at the line.
Through 8 games in Big 12 play this year, Gibson is 25% at the line.

that's great, but why only include Big 12 stats? Do free throws in non con games not count? Your statement is that Royce is better than Percy from the line, but get to cherry pick the time frame? If that's the case, can we count the 8 game stretch last year, where Royce went 15-40 while Percy went 9-12?

I'm counting the Big 12 stats because that's what the media seems to do a lot. Since, conference play is what matters most, when talking about a player they like to give their conference stats.
Even if you wanted to include this entire season, Gibson and White are both horrible free throw shooters.

agreed, and yet by a simple measure of the statistic, Gibson is about 10% better.
