Welllll, James Foster isn't expected to sign with Texas A & M, in fact might take Purdy's slot at Alabama, so Purdy's tempted now by the bright lights of A & M. Could be a rude shock on signing day though, if Isaac Taylor-Stuart shows up. Jimbo needs to justify that big new contract, Brock doesn't have the rating to move them into the top 25 like Taylor-Stuart does, but bodies are important too this year, otherwise might already look like you can't recruit. And same story every year, Jimbo needs to be in the top 5 or higher with every recruiting class or they'll be paying him big money to go away too.

So what are you going to do, Mr. Purdy? Practice squad at AL, assuming they've not withdrawn their offer, or practice squad at A & M, or a legit shot at being a real, starting QB at ISU?

I sure hope I'm not jinxing us, but he seems like an intelligent young man. I have a feeling he's going to appreciate the way our coaching staff has dealt with him, not pressuring him. And I have this strong, strong feeling he is a future cyclone.

Why do people post stupid **** like this? Yes, I’m sure A&M is looking at Rivals everyday to see if Jimbo has a top 5 recruiting class. Screw on the field results, he could win a national championship, but he’s getting shown the door if he doesn’t start having a top 5 recruiting class according to the internet. No coach out there gives two ***** about their recruiting class ranking according to some website.

Also, people seem to put this kid down by saying he would never see the field at Alabama and now we got a guy saying he would never see the field at A&M. If the kid is good enough to earn a scholarship, then the coaching staff feels he’s good enough to play. It’s a diss to the kid when people say he’s only going to be a practice player.

Good post. Not only an insult to the player but an insult to our program to say a guy who will automatically be a star here but isn’t good enough to see the field at another place.

To be fair, I haven't seen many posts other that the one above where people have said that Purdy wouldn't see the field at Alabama. Most have said that Saban will continue to bring in high level QB's, so competition is going to be fierce.

While I like your overall message, recruiting classes are a big seller for "program prestige". People buy tickets based on what sites like CF tell them about the incoming recruits. While the coaching staff prides itself more on getting the guys they want, but the media surrounding the program pushes having a top recruiting class HARD and the program doesn't build hype as well without the media.
